Shéaniki has a trace atmosphere and water available in the form of ice. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This world is a satellite of a gas giant or another planet in the system. The world lies substantially outside of the habitable zone of the system and environmental temperatures are well below the freezing point of many gases. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Mimu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Shéaniki, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. 20% of the world's population is the Major Race Droyne. During the Long Night this world was named Nemuun.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

Shéaniki is a member of the Gvadh Cluster.

Stellar Data[edit]

Shéaniki has a solitary primary star.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Shéaniki is the outer moon of Pelmarlu, the system's innermost gas giant. It is a frigidly cold world retaining a trace atmosphere of helium and ammonia, thrown off by the gas giant. Shéaniki displays an impressive degree of volcanism, but when the world is in alignment with Pelmarlu and the star seismic activity reaches a peak.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Shéaniki is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (S)[edit]

Shéaniki has a pressure of less than 0.1 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (S)[edit]

Shéaniki has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

History and Background[edit]

Around half a million Humans live in a city fusion tunnelled into a mountain, located in one of the geologically quieter areas. The remainder of the population are Droyne, who live in the unstable equatorial lowlands.

Fragmentary records dating from the First Imperium indicate that a Droyne oytrip was present on Shéaniki when it was first explored by Vilani scouts. While the Droyne maintain a stable and sustainable TL–7 society the Humans have an artificial tech level of around ten, but have to import everything they need, including maintenance personnel to keep their city running.

World Starport[edit]

Shéaniki has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Shéaniki has a population of 600,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Demographics[edit]

Linguistic Topography[edit]

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Shéaniki possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Shéaniki is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.

World Law (L)[edit]

Shéaniki has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
