Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard. |
The Karna class Fleet Tender is a subcraft-carrying warship.
- It is a military ship and a Battle Tender.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
In service with the Regency of Muirimi Navy, it was designed to deliver a single large battle rider to the front lines. They can carry a small platoon of 24 marines who have drop capsules and access to a pair of 4T Air Rafts. They can carry a pair of 100T fleet couriers. They have a back up computer and a low watch. These crew replacements can be replaced with a marine assault company. Capable medical attention is required to ensure successful reanimation. Missile turrets were selected instead of the more powerful missile bays to free up tonnage for the massive battle rider. They can be fitted with J-2 drop tanks to extend their strike range.
- They can carry a single Xarbo class Battle Rider. They carry fifty 10T light fighters organized into five interceptor squadrons to screen themselves from enemy attacks.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
These vessels have been around for a awhile and are very similar to designs that have served in Solomani star navies for a very long time. They are considered very inexpensive for their size, especially when purchased in bulk. Poorly defended they rely on powerful escort elements within the fleet to see to their safety. They are not deployed alone and travel with logistical and supply ships. The size of a light cruiser they allocate half their available tonnage to a 10,000ton Xarbo class Battle Rider. The capacious cargo bays allow room for future refits and further modifications. Modular in design, the vessel lends it self well to customization. Damage control and repair is also simplified. Maintenance and operating costs are much lower as a result. The storage is most often used to haul enough supplies and provisions to allow extended patrol tours between reprovisioning rendezvouses.
