Isenold is a poor, nonindustrial world.

  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This world has few prospects for economic development.
  • This world has an exploration base, which is similar to an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling explorer personnel and exploratory starships.
  • This is an occupied world controlled from Druwaith
  • It is the homeworld of the Isen, a sophontic species

Mainworld Data[edit]

Isenold has a Good Starport with shipyards able of handling Spacecraft up to the Overhaul level, and provides Refined fuel. The main world is roughly 11,000 kilometers in diameter, and is a medium terrestrial with a gravity of 0.9G. The atmosphere has a pressure of 0.4 atmospheres, which requires the use of a respirator to ensure sufficient oxygen. The surface is roughly 35 percent surface water, which qualifies it as a wet world. The main world has a general population of 500,000 local residents, which qualifies it as a Moderate population world. The local government is characterized as Captive Government/Colony, with government by a leadership answerable to an outside group, a colony or conquered area. Visitors may find the law highly restrictive as Blade Weapons Controlled are regulated or restricted by local authorities.
Isenold has a day of 28 hours and a year of 350 days.

As of the year 1115

  • The only human city, also called Isenold, numbers around 250,000 people. All are either employees of the Givet Corporation, or work in businesses that provide services for the corporation or it's employees.
  • The primary native species, the Isen, live in the jungle areas of the world, and their estimated number is around 500,000.
  • The Givet Corporation manufactures and exports LGD from it's facility on the planet, an analgesic drug.
  • Isenold City is the playground of the Rigel and Precipice Subsectors. It is the home of the Taipan VRL (Virtual Racing League), and well as famous coasters like the Zero G Levitron, and the 6G Spot Coaster, and other rides, fairgrounds with strength and dexterity games, and various virtual experiences in The Thrill Zone.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

Away from Isenold City, Isenold is primarily jungle and rainforest. The world experiences strong axial precession, but has a low axial tilt, Instead of dramatic seasonal shifts, the climate remains relatively consistent year-round. As there are no seasonal changes, life on Isenold doesn’t need to adapt to cold winters or scorching summers — it exists in an ever-present state of stable, jungle-like conditions.
The Isen, the largest native creatures of their world despite standing only 70cm tall, have evolved to thrive in this stable environment. With no changing climate to disrupt their way of life, they move through a jungle that feels ancient, where survival is a matter of strategy rather than endurance. They dominate the dense undergrowth and twisting waterways, ruling over the labyrinth of vines and towering Umbra Canopy Trees.
Above them, Basa, gliding mammalian hunters, soar silently between the branches, hunting swarms of Glowspinners and shimmering Chitter Scarabs, bioluminescent insects that flicker through the canopy at dusk. While their prey thrives without seasonal disruptions, the Basa have developed acute aerial precision, relying on the fleeting flickers of light beneath the canopy to pinpoint their targets.
Flora on Isenold has no need for dramatic seasonal blooms or dormancy cycles. Tharble Trees, which release thick clouds of pollen, do so at an unchanging rhythm, forming soft golden fogs that drift lazily through the jungle. The Nathra Weave, an interlocking carpet of vegetation, continually renews itself, never dying back in the absence of winter. Even the numerous rivers and streams carry their steady flow, weaving around clusters of Tenderweed, whose translucent stalks bend gracefully in the water’s timeless current.
The land occasionally rises into rocky, rolling hills — a rare glimpse of the world beyond the dense foliage below that springs from the rich, damp soil. Here, the jungle gives way to sloping ridges, their surfaces blanketed in Lightgrass, a wispy, silver-hued vegetation that thrives in constant exposure to the sky. Unlike the tightly woven greenery below, the air here is crisp and unbroken, carrying the distant calls of creatures hidden beneath the treetops. Perched along the rocky outcroppings, clusters of Zerath Shrubs stretch their broad petals toward the unobstructed light, absorbing every drop of energy in an ecosystem where shade dominates. The Isen, despite being creatures of the jungle floor, occasionally ascend these heights to observe their territory from above — a rare vantage point in their world of tangled roots and shadowed passageways.
While the jungle below is dense and humid, the highlands experience a constant, slow-moving breeze, brushing against the jagged rock formations that punctuate the hills. These stones, eroded by time, serve as nesting grounds for the most daring Basa, who use the altitude to launch themselves into longer, more sweeping glides across the jungle expanse.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Sophont: Isen 'Isen' are small (0.7m average) frog like creatures, bipedal with webbed hands and feet. They can live both in the water permanently and on land for long periods. Physically, Isen exhibit a vibrant array of colors, ranging from vibrant greens and blues to striking yellows and purples. Their bodies are sleek and streamlined, adapted for agile movement both in water and on land. They have a smooth, mucus-covered skin that offers protection and aids in respiration, allowing them to breathe comfortably in a variety of environments. Isen heads feature large, expressive eyes with an incredible range of vision, capable of perceiving a wide spectrum of colors and detecting minute details in their surroundings. Their eyes also possess a specialized membrane that allows them to see clearly underwater and in low-light conditions.

Isen possess a remarkable ability to regenerate damaged tissue, making them incredibly resilient and long lived (500 years average). If injured, their bodies initiate a rapid healing process, allowing them to recover from wounds that would prove fatal to other species. This regenerative capacity has led to an advanced understanding of biological sciences and contributed to medical breakthroughs.

Socially, Isen are highly communal beings, organizing themselves into tightly-knit groups known as "pods." Within each pod, individuals work collaboratively, sharing resources and knowledge to ensure the collective well-being. They possess a strong sense of empathy and cooperation, valuing harmony and balance in their interactions. They have a profound respect for their natural environment, understanding the interconnectedness of all living beings and the importance of preserving biodiversity.

Overall, the Isen represent a harmonious blend of physical adaptability, regenerative abilities, communal values, and a profound respect for the natural world. Their frog-like appearance and sentient nature make them a fascinating and endearing addition to the diverse tapestry of sentient beings in the cosmos.

Total population of Isen on Isenold is estimated at around 500,000

There is extensive plant life around the equatorial areas , mainly medium height trees with thick upper foliage. There are also groves of a bamboo equivalent that the Isen use for building their houses, carts and 'Basa Traps'. One type of vine produce a fruit simply called a 'Vine Fruit' that has a noted intoxicating effect on humans and Isen. The effects, which the Isen call 'brain fog', happens very quickly (within an hour), and also fades quickly, but results in extreme nausea for several hours after the other effects cease.

Commonly found is the Basa, small gliding hunters that prey on the multitudes of insects that inhabit the jungle, and in turn the Basa are prey for the Isen.

Other notable creatues are:

  • Tovari Skimmers – Tiny, darting amphibians that glide across water surfaces using their elongated toes.
  • Brunth Crawlers – Armored, segmented creatures that burrow through jungle soil, churning up rich nutrients.
  • Nulven Flyers – Small-winged predators that hover in place, scanning for prey before striking with surgical precision.
  • Kaelith Stalkers – Elusive jungle creatures that mimic the colors of their surroundings, nearly vanishing from sight.
  • Vorith Serpents – Tiny constrictors that coil into dense knots before unraveling in a lightning-fast strike.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The original natives of Isenold are the Isen.

  • -1939
    • Ships from Exploratory Mission Number 315 arrived and charted Isenold. They found extensive flora and fauna, and sentient life in the Isen. After studying the ecology of the world, no packages were left.
  • 969
    • A scout ship from Druwaith arrived to chart the planet. Burton Givet was the science officer on board the ship.
  • 970
    • Burton Givet returned with a several dozen staff of the newly formed Givet Corporation and started a small scientific settlement, purportedly to study the Isen. The settlement was fully enclosed against the thin atmosphere. The government of Druwaith funded, built and maintain a category B highport.
  • 1081
    • First Robot Rebellion. A software engineer found an exploit in the operating system used in the majority of commercial and domestic robots, and crafted a virus that turned them hostile. Any infected robot with any capability attacked anything nearby, including other robots.
  • 1101
    • Second Robot Rebellion. Agents from Horok landed several hundred battle androids and attacked Isen City.

World starport[edit]

Isenold has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World technology level[edit]

Isenold possesses a Technology Level of TL–2.

World government[edit]

Isenold has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Law Level[edit]

Isenold has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Military[edit]

The Givet Corporation maintains a security detail who operate as a police force, both on the world and at the starport. At the starport, they also maintain 2 standard Druwaith fighters.

The Isen do not have any formal military, but most Isen carry wooden clubs and bows and arrows for hunting.

Urbanization[edit]

The human city of Isenold was founded in the year 970 as a scientific settlement to study the Isen. Due to the thin atmosphere, it is a fully enclosed city, with a hard, clear silicoid covering over the entire city area. There is a space shuttle capable air lock on the western edge of the city, and vehicle and human capable airlocks on the borth, east and south edges. Residents of Isen are actively discouraged from leaving the enclosed city area.

The Isen in general live outside the city, and form "pods" of several hundred Isen. These are mainly in the equatorial areas as the climate there is more suitable to them. These "pods" generally consist of single level wooden houses, with the Isen living in immediate family groups of 2-6 Isen per dwelling. The townships are connected by dirt trails through the jungle, regularly traversed by Isen pulling wooden carts if they require goods to be transported, as there are no suitable beasts of burden on the world.
