Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard Shipyard v1.13 written by Andrea Vallance. |
The Dark Mistress class Yacht is a luxury starship.
- It is a civilian ship and a Yacht.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
This vessel retains an elaborate counter measures launcher for chaff/window, EMS jammers, IR flares, ECM decoys and sand canisters. The weapons deck has a missile tube silo as well with three ready rounds in the magazine rack. The assault rocket launcher's three ready loads are a remote sensor spy drone, a HE dog fight missile with IR seeker, and a thermo nuclear Mk 48 ship killer torpedo, with radio link command guidance and optical terminal homing and home on jammer options. There are fourteen staterooms.
The habitation life ring works as a spin habitat and the cargo space has been largely converted into a small casino. The cylindrical spindle of the ship's hull hangs perpendicular to the surface of the world. Partially streamlined and capable of gas giant wilderness refueling. The fusion reactors, jump drive with fluted cooling radiator vanes form the prow of the ship just behind the bow sensor domes. The bow avionics bay has the system range communication laser, maser and radio arrays, and the passive and active EMS sensors. Triple 1/3 G maneuver gimbles are positioned forward in a tractor configuration with a 120 degree separation. These three reactionless thrusters pull the ship forward. When relative motion and acceleration is not being applied and a stable orbital insertion has been achieved, the life ring deploys to full radius and spins as a thin torus. Aft of this is the command bridge and computer core, and finally the boat deck with the ship's many vehicles and craft. All of the hull surfaces are rendered in a non-oxidizing matte black stealth coating, a hold over from their military ancestry.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
This class of vessel was first built at TL–9, as a class of War Sloop. Most have been decommissioned, but some found their way into other planetary navies and some were overhauled and upgraded as luxury pleasure vessels, with the utilitarian naval milspec replaced with opulent decor and customer customization design features.
Typically, single occupancy staterooms would be the rule. This owner has elected to cram 23 minions aboard in addition to the five essential crew. When his personal security platoon is not embarked dealers, entertainers, dancers and casino employees take their place. The Crew of the Dark Mistress operates in the Tsorva (world) system.
