The Harpy class Air/Raft is a TL-9 Armored Fighting Vehicle.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

This is an obsolete TL–9 militarized version of a civilian Air/Raft variant. It is sealed with life support for all fifteen passengers and the three crew. The fully stabilized turret is -2 to hit in the EFP, if the vehicle moves more than 1/2 speed. It lacks the thick starship level hull plating considered safe for protracted protected forces operations. Dismounts would typically don vacuum suits or combat armor when available, just in case the thin armor was penetrated during the descent into a planet's atmosphere from orbit. They are faster than a standard Air/Raft, with the same cargo space and much greater passenger capacity.

Basic Vehicle Characteristics[edit]

Following the Imperial Army and IISS Universal Vehicle Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the vehicle when applicable. Tonnage on the universal vehicle profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

More extensive defensive electronic gear was removed as a cost savings for this model. Weapons were selected which did not require expensive fire control systems in order to be effective. This designs was intended mainly for military assistance and export sales. These vehicles were considered infantry sections in most Nist (world) platoons within larger Lift Infantry Battalions, where they were deployed during the Nist War. They were deployed on certain classes of War Sloops, like the Dark Mistress class Yachts.
