Amgagiga supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Kuriishe Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Amgagiga, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. During the Long Night this world was named Mar.

Astrography and planetology[edit]

Amgagiga is a small planet with a thin atmosphere and an unusually high hydrosphere. This is due to advanced techniques of water conservation, water mining and water retention, which have been tested here over the centuries. When first discovered, the planet had little free water. Now there are oceans to sail on.

Amgagiga is a member of the Sylean Main.

Amgagiga has a solitary primary star.

History and background[edit]

The original settlers were forcibly transported to the planet as a result of defeat in some long-forgotten bush war during the Pacification Campaigns. Forced to leave behind an aquatic environment, they found the undeveloped Amgagiga extremely hard to adjust to. In protest, they devoted their energies to developing the water resources of their new home.

In parallel with this emphasis on water conservation, a governmental system based around giving privilege and power to those with the skills to develop and control the planetary water resources arose. Although there is now little or no stress on the planet's free water, this has persisted; to such an extent that to gain any political power you need to be qualified in, or even better to have worked in, some aspect of the water industry.

Visitors to Amgagiga are warned that water conservation is taken extremely seriously, and waste is viewed almost as a criminal offence. Any action likely to pollute water is illegal and will attract a severe punishment. The planet is a center for expertise in virtually anything to do with water, and many desert worlds (for example) pay astronomical sums to attract Amgagigaan experts to assist them in developing their own resources.

Bottled water is regarded highly, and connoisseurs claim to be able to distinguish between various reservoirs and treatment systems etc. At a formal dinner, water rather than wine will be served, with great solemnity. There is even a religious cult based around the worship of water, although this is dying out, being held to be 'mere superstition' by the majority of Amgagigaan.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Amgagiga has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Amgagiga possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Amgagiga is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Amgagiga has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
