Description (Specifications)
Comments: The P. F. Sloan class Fleet Escort is intended for routine fleet security and support. Fleet escorts are assigned in quantity for local or system defense any time that several squadrons or a fleet are present. If it is remembered that Sloans are lightly armed and armored, then their performance can be seen as admirable, although they cannot withstand major engagements. [1]

History & Background (Dossier)
The P. F. Sloan class Fleet Escort is intended for routine fleet security and support. Fleet Escorts are assigned in quantity for local or system defense any time that several squadrons or a fleet are present. If it is remembered that Sloans are lightly armed and armored, then their performance can be seen as admirable, although they can not withstand major engagements.
Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities
Naming Practice/s: The namesake ship of the class was named after a venerated Terran rock star musician / entertainer. Subsequent ships were named after entertainers from across the Third Imperium including Solomani, Vilani, Suerrat, and other races and groups. They are also informally known as Philip Gary Schleins or Flips. [15]
Peculiarities: The designed is noted for having very well designed galleys, but very poorly designed air filtration systems, meaning that the pleasant smells of a good meal, or the horrible smells of a bad meal are known to linger throughout the ship. Flatulence from lattuce or cabbage-based meals are infamous throughout the Imperial Navy. [16]
