Oustafiylr is a low-population water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water and a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Trita Subsector of Canopus Sector.
- Oustafiylr is a Twilight Zone World trapped by a M9 V star.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Stellar Data
Oustafiylr has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 planetoid belts.
Mainworld Data
Mainworld Size (S)
Oustafiylr is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Oustafiylr has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Oustafiylr has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms
The world is full of fascinating lifeforms and a scientific outpost that studies them. Curiously enough, the lifeforms seem to have developed near unique internal sensors for detecting solar flares. Local lifeforms seem to known when a flare is about to occur and shelter accordingly.
The world's oceans have near miraculously formed a self-sustaining biosphere with one side of the world frozen and the other near-boiling. A thin ribbon of much more temperate sea and micro islands nestles the twilight areas of the world. Surprisingly, all sorts of hardy lifeforms are located across the world's breadth, some even being so hardy and flexible as to dwell throughout the entire world. Most of the world lives on and around underwater volcanoes and deep sea vents.
History & Background / Dossier
The world was originally inhabited by an Aslan science mission, before a human one took over after the Aslan one abandoned the planet for unknown reasons. The world is covered with strange Aslan markers and survey beacons.
World Starport
Oustafiylr has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Technology Level
Oustafiylr possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government
Oustafiylr has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
