Description (Specifications)

Stormbringer class Fleet Tenders are the centerpiece of The Democratic People's Defense Forces, the armed forces of the Winston Democracy. They are designed to be able to transport two complete system defense squadrons into troubled areas. Each carries two platoons of marines and their vehicles.

The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]

1. Tonnage The Stormbringer class is constructed using a 40,000 Ton hull built in a Dispersed Strucure configuration. The hull is unstreamlined and cannot operate in anything denser than Trace atmospheres without risking catastrophic structural failure.

3. Performance The vessel mounts a Jump-1 drive, a Maneuver-6 drive, and a Power Plant-7, giving performance of Jump-1 and 6-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 4 and an emergency agility of 6. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for two consecutive Jump-1s and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration.

    • Ladders, gantries and platforms give access to the machinery.
  • The jump drive creates a jump bubble around the vessel.
  • The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.

History & Background (Dossier)

Stormbringer class Fleet Tenders are part of The Democratic People's Defense Forces, the military of the Winston Democracy. They are built with covert Solomani naval assistance and construction is overseen by Solomani technical advisers. The Solomani gain certain advantageous economic opportunities, diplomatic privileges and political favors in exchange. Several systems within the Winston Democracy are not advanced enough to support continuous naval activities and ships are moved into position only when needed.
