A Crustaceanoid is a creature that exhibits characteristics similar to Terran crabs, lobsters, crayfish, shrimp, and barnacles.

A crustaceanoid creature is distinguished by a number of characteristics:
- Segmented bodies consisting of two or more parts: typically a head section containing a mouth and the sensory organs and a body containing the major internal organs.
- An exoskeleton or a hard, shell-like covering on the outside of the body.
- Three or more pairs of jointed appendages referred to as legs. These are typically used for swimming or walking.
- Antennae, typically mounting sensory organs.
