History & Background (Dossier)
Muan Gwi is an important high-population world within Vega Subsector of the Solomani Rim.
In many ways, Muan Gwi is the most important world in the Solomani Rim: homeworld of the Vegans, capital of the Vegan Autonomous District and subsector capital, and the most densely populated and productive world in the sector. The planet is highly urbanized and the majority of its Vegan population live in towering arcologies. Most construction in the last two centuries has taken the form of grav-supported superdense towers that stretch for many kilometers into the sky, and floating cities that hover over the world’s oceans.
Era: Milieu 1120
In 1112 the Archduke Kieran Langos Adair declared his intention to move the capital of the Domain of Sol to Muan Gwi from its previous location at Exeter (Diaspora 2729). The new domain capital became operational in 1114, though Archduke Adair himself did not take up residence on Muan Gwi until early in 1115.
Era: New Era
Though there was a great deal of damage caused by the Virus, Muan Gwi retained a small number of salvageable starships, and eventually regained contact with Dingir in 1190. Trade relations were reestablished soon afterward, and now regular merchant convoys travel the jump-2 route through the Wilds between Dingir and Muan Gwi. The government of Muan Gwi maintains a strict non-intervention policy in the internal affairs of other worlds. This policy has meant that many Vegan "fallen" worlds are still controlled by individuals who are hostile to the old ways. The Terrans have exploited this situation by providing support to anti-Muan Gwi Vegan factions on various worlds. The aim of this policy is to keep the Vegans from uniting into a regional power which would likely be hostile to the Terran Republic.
