• It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
• Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to incrementally rise barring outside forces. The world will grow even quicker when its industrial sector begins to develop.
• This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
• It is a part of the Liberated Stars in the Tsorva Subsector of Halcyon Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.

• This world is controlled by the Liberated Stars.

System Data

Santanna System

The primary is Santanna, a yellow giant star. It has a luminosity of 50 Sols, a mass of 2.5 Sols, and a diameter of 9.88 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a trace atmosphere inner world, (III) a vacuum worldlet, (IV) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (V) an exotic atmosphere stormworld – orbital positions (VI) through (XII) are unavailable due to the presence of the companion star. (XIII) a vacuum worldlet, (XIV) a very large gas giant, and (XV) a sparse icy planetoid belt form the outer system. Only the stormworld and the gas giant retain satellites.

Moralla-Bezik Subsystem

The companion is Moralla, an ordinary orange main sequence star that orbits Santanna at 21.1 AU (orbital position (X), 3.16 billion km) and has an orbital period of 61 years 109 days. It has a luminosity of 0.056 Sols, a mass of 0.5214 Sols, and a diameter of 773,000 km. (I) Bezik orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (II) a dense stony planetoid belt, (III) a small gas giant, and (IV) a large gas giant form the outer system. Both of the gas giants retain satellites.

Mainworld Data

(I) Bezik

(I) Bezik is designated the mainworld and orbits Moralla at a mean distance of 0.18 AU (26.9 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 38 days 15 hours: it is tidally locked to Moralla. The axial tilt is 4 degrees. Bezik has a diameter of 11,433 km, a density of 5.35 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.87 G. The world is flexed by tidal forces and is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, with a mean surface pressure of 0.53 bar and a composition of 80% nitrogen (N₂), 19% oxygen (O₂), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H₂O), carbon dioxide (CO₂), neon (Ne), and other trace gases. Approximately 58% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.75m. Mean surface temperature: 32°C. The atmosphere is active and strong weather systems, driven by the star and the seas, cross the globe. The climate is static.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

Bezik, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)

A massive Model/1 Computer TL–5 mainframe was installed at the Starport with expansive memory banks underground in climate controlled vaults. They used it for crop predictions, weather forecasting, and business management. It was the only computer on the planet and cloistered guardian librarians parceled out data services to each of the nation-states. Prior to liberation this planet was extensively balkanized. Many a petty nation state vied for control and influence. Endless treaties, disputed border claims, and wars of unification and succession marred the would-be peace. Outside forces exploited these tendencies to hasten assimilation. Prison camps and reeducation centers serve as painful reminders to rebellious elements. Resistant elements are subject to callous experimentation upon arrest and capture. Genetically modified slave soldiers have been crafted in hidden laboratories under the direction of The Righteous Hand. At least 2,000 gene altered and mind wiped warriors have been produced thus far, fully converted into zealots, whose only wish is to die in the service of their savior conqueror, the tyrant prophet.

World starport

Bezik has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World military

In remote areas conscripted militia, traitorous collaborators, use newly built heavily armored tracked vehicles of local manufacture. These loyalist forces are carefully monitored by garrison forces. One regiment of Bezik Dragoon Guards has been trained and equipped so far. New war foundries have sprung up as a result of exploitive trade and the influx of off world currency. Towering structures spewing soot, introducing pollution into former farming cities now crowded with refugees. Rumors persist of rebel cells, hidden in the waste lands, and striking from bases buried under the mountains and icy plateaus. Many of the rebel ranks are swelled by unskilled enthusiasts who rally around a small cadre of surviving native officers led by the Vicar-General Kabuki Kaiser. At sea a few diesel-electric submarines have eluded capture operating from remote archipelagoes. In opposition, small prowling bands of psi-drug addicted psionic warriors float Grav Belted, wielding electronically sighted laser rifles, and girded in the latest imported Combat Armor from the Unity of Sed. Demented, they hunt, scanning for rebel activity and treasonous thoughts.
