Shushaka is an industrial, high-population hellworld with a billion or more sophonts, who struggle in an inhospitable environment.

  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
  • As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Khukish Subsector of Corridor Sector in the Domain of Vland.
  • This world was known by the same name during the time of the First Imperium.

Description (Planetology)[edit]

This system is part of the Kaasu Cluster.

Stellar Data[edit]

Shushaka has two stars in the star system.

System Data[edit]

Named after the original explorers of the system, the management of the corporate leaders of Shushaka co-opted the symbolism of the system’s five gas giants as the foundations for their corporate values:

  • Shushaka: An explorer who leads
  • Muhr: The miser who guards resources
  • Ikös: A navigator who plans ahead
  • Lekïa: The fool, who delights and deceives
  • Engia: A foil to Lekïa, the innovator who works tirelessly

Mainworld Data[edit]

The Shushaka mainworld is actually a moon of an eponymous gas giant.

Shushaka has a 32 hour day.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Shushaka is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Shushaka has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Shushaka has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]

A strip of ocean winding down one side is this world's only major source of water. The surface is divided into megacity-sized compounds of construction sites, management quarters, automated factories and squalid dormitories. Outside the production centres are mining sites and pits of chemical waste, with no concern given for pollution or ecological damage.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The system is led by the fervent, overworked staff of the planetwide Sebokea Corporation. Its ambitious and driven culture works tirelessly to overtake the subsector capital Kaasu and become an economic powerhouse in its own right.

Imperial High & Landed Nobility[edit]

Shushaka, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial Landed Knight who acts as an Imperial representative to the world, and the fiefdoms of two members of the Imperial Landed Nobility, who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Shushaka has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

The capital city of Emptor contains the Downport. It is an efficient and highly trafficked shipping and service centre, transporting goods across the entire sector.

World Population (P)[edit]

Shushaka has a population of 8,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Shushaka possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government (G)[edit]

Shushaka is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy, and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. This ruling bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucractic apparatus or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence, like the military.

Specifically, the impersonal bureaucracy exists to manage and protect the interests of the Sebokea Corporation, which itself manages all resources and economics on a practical level.
