The KSbA Model A-23 class Lifeboat is a TL–8 non-combatant smallcraft dedicated Life Boats.

One of the most common lifeboats used throughout the Imperium is the KSbA Model A-23, manufactured by Kaufmann Sternschiffbau Ag. It is not equipped with more than very basic internal life support.

The TL–8 craft masses 19.6 metric tons and is capable of carrying three conscious passengers (including pilot) and an additional twenty in five cold sleep berths, for a total of twenty-three passengers.

The Model A-23 incorporates an ablative heat shield and simple retro-rocket for atmospheric entry under most conditions.
