Octason is a poor, barren desert world with no overt population, government, or law level.
- This world has no free-standing water.
- This world could be populated if anyone had an inclination to do so...
- It is an unclaimed Non-Aligned world located in the Bablari Subsector of Iphigenaia Sector.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Octason has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence.
The system lies within the Great Rift.
The system is part of the Splinters.
System Data
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x4 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
- x2 gas giants.
The system lies deep within the Great Rift.
Mainworld Data
Octason is a Twilight Zone World.
- In the narrow region between permanent night and permanent day, the primary star eternally hangs on the horizon.
The mainworld orbits within the stars habitable zone.
- The world orbits far inside of the stars jump shadow, requiring long manoeuver times to or from a safe jump distance.
- The world is one of a resonant chain of planets that have related orbital periods.
Mainworld Size (S)
Octason is a Small World between 2,400km and 4,000km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.1G and 0.17G. The horizon will appear about 2.5km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)
Octason has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
- Oxygen is produced by photocatalytic conversion of surface materials by stellar energy.
- Fresh surface material is constantly exposed through processes such as seismic activity, volcanism, or erosion.
- The oxygen rapidly depletes from the atmosphere through oxidization with surface materials: a rough equilibrium between production and depletion exists.
- The percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere varies according to the density of global cloud cover.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)
Octason has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms
No native life: the world has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere.
History & Background (Dossier)
The system is an empty and untamed wilderness. In all likelihood, no intelligent being has ever have set foot on its worlds.
- The system almost never sees traffic.
- Commo only picks up natural background noise and static.
This world may lie on an Aslan Jump-5 exploration route along the coreward edge of the Great Rift.
- The route leads to the rimward border of Theron Sector.
- It may possibly continue into Theta Borealis Sector.
World Starport (St)
Octason does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.
World Technology Level (T)
Octason possesses a Tech Level of TL–0.
- The world has no technological base.
World Government (G)
Octason has no government or ruling authority of any kind.
World Military
None.
World Law (L)
Octason has no law level. No laws of any kind are enforced.

- Labor: 0 (unpopulated)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: -5 (extremely poor)
Trade Data
