Zuchai Crystals are a vital strategic resource used to manufacture high power energy capacitor systems, especially in the core of a Jump Drive.
Description (Specifications)
These crystals form the raw material for a vital focusing element in jump drives. They are both naturally occurring and manufactured, but the natural type appear to have longer operating lives. [1]
The crystals are used in the "Zuchai Crystal Energy Sink Array"[2] (also known as the "Jump Capacitors"). A typical starship uses several kilograms of Zuchai crystals. Larger starships may use hundreds or even thousands of kilograms of this resource.
Natural crystals in a raw state are worth about Cr1,000 per kilogram.
History & Background (Dossier)
The ancient Solomani name for these crystals has been forgotten.
Worlds & Sectors (Astrography)
One of the best known mines of Zuchai crystals is located on Dinom (Spinward Marches 1811) near the city of Medianne.
World Listing: 1116
