Categories, singular or plural?[edit]

I saw you moved a number of languages articles from Category:Languages to Category:Language. I’m curious as to the thinking of selecting one over the other. Tjoneslo (talk) 16:08, 4 June 2020 (EDT)

Numbers...A lot less to move to Language from Languages than vice-versa. BackworldTraveller (talk) 16:09, 4 June 2020 (EDT)

Cleaning the Double redirects[edit]

Thank you for doing that bit of maintenance work. That is great to be cleaned up. Tjoneslo (talk) 08:41, 16 June 2020 (EDT)

Vehicles from JTAS14[edit]

I've added two of the vehicles mentioned in JTAS14. Another, the "Light APC" is an unnamed example of the class. The Light APC article is a summary page. In some previous instances these unnamed examples were given a name by the wiki staff. The other vehicles mention (Motocycle with sidecar, Motorcycle, Grav Cycle, Ground Car) are all equally generic named. Since this is your project, please let me know how you want these added. Tjoneslo (talk) 20:55, 23 June 2020 (EDT)

Motorcycle with sidecar would be new for definite. the other three are potential duplicates (Different Manufacturers?) --can you paste details here and I can then I can slide them in as appropriate.BackworldTraveller (talk) 01:44, 24 June 2020 (EDT)
See below. They're mostly just stats, rather than any real description about what they are, and how they are used. It's all assumed. Tjoneslo (talk) 07:20, 24 June 2020 (EDT)

Imperial armed services rank articles[edit]

On one of the many other fora I inhabit one person brought up the Imperial armed services rank articles. The question was since the existing articles are largely boilerplate, would the information work better as single article with appropriate headers? Since you were the person doing the work I felt it better to ask you rather than try and create an answer or re-do articles without discussion. Tjoneslo (talk) 08:07, 6 August 2020 (EDT)

With 20:20 hindsight, that is probably the case. But what is done is done and they are now all done. Also, as one goes through the other careers, there is some overlap with some but not all of the ranks already done. I personally prefer one page per thing. The biggest problem is that the ranks structures are just inconsistent across editions; inconsistent within services and just inconsistent generally. A serious case of too many cooks with no chef I suspect! BackworldTraveller (talk) 13:56, 6 August 2020 (EDT)

Updated Millions Subsector map[edit]

I generated a new map for the Deneb Sector Millions Subsector. How does this look? Tjoneslo (talk) 12:18, 29 August 2020 (EDT)

Deneb Millions Subsector.png

The borders for the UFA appear to include Tubb. I don't believe that Tubb is in the UFA at any time. Other than that it looks fine.

Thank you

BackworldTraveller (talk) 12:23, 29 August 2020 (EDT)

Update the map to visually separate the UFA from the other independent worlds in the subsector. Tjoneslo (talk) 12:42, 29 August 2020 (EDT)
Looks good. Shall I update the Million Subsector page?
Aegaek subsector should appear at the top! BackworldTraveller (talk) 02:21, 30 August 2020 (EDT)
Fixed that, and uploaded the rest of the subsectors in Deneb. Tjoneslo (talk) 09:05, 30 August 2020 (EDT)

Star Data and the M class sub-giants[edit]

I have come across Kimarla which claims it has a M2 IV (subgiant) primary star. In the data you gave me for star data, this isn't possible. A quick reading of the Wikipedia page concurs. Since we don't have star data for this star the page displays an error. What would you recommend to replace this with? Tjoneslo (talk) 19:10, 29 August 2020 (EDT)

The description of Kimarla could easily be applicable to an M2 III class variable star - the colonies keep failing because the star keeps varying its output. BackworldTraveller (talk) 02:19, 30 August 2020 (EDT)

Image sizing.[edit]

So I noticed this file: "File:MV Caroline - All Decks - Low Res.jpg" is showing an error of being too big, in terms of height x width to be processes by the Wiki image management tools. If you're going to put the image into the wiki at a smaller size, please consider sizing the image down before uploading it. Tjoneslo (talk) 18:20, 30 September 2020 (EDT)

Sorted. I tried loading a on-deck item over "File:MV Caroline - All Decks - Low Res.jpg" but this had some weird results - presumably because of the earlier load issues...so I've loaded it as "File:MV Caroline - Cross-Section - Low Res.jpg" instead. The "All Decks" version can be deleted?

Dennson[edit]

Cheers for the update on Dennson - I've folded that into the ongoing update process, hope you approve.

  • Running with the stats, there's liquid water on the mainworld surface so its kind of got to be hab zone - the world is positioned as far out as possible to give the two stars enough space for a meaningful orbital distance around their barycenter, while still keeping Dennson within a distance where liquid water can exist on at least part of the surface.
  • Basically that means Dennson is doomed to be a cold and hostile place. Which is neat, tons of extra character.

As always, any additional thoughts or twists are very welcome.
