Dennson is an industrial, high-population hellworld with a billion or more sophonts, who struggle in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often form intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Duhamel Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Dennson is a binary star system.
- The primary is a red main sequence.
- The secondary is a tiny white dwarf stellar remnant.

Note that the center of mass of this system is located between the primary star and the secondary star (it is nearer the secondary by a 2:1 ratio).
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x7 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 planetoid belts.
All of the belts and planets that make up the system have circum-binary orbits.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Dennson is a Twilight Zone World.
- In the narrow region between permanent night and permanent day, the primary star eternally hangs on the horizon.
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It occupies the innermost orbit around the binary pair.
- It lies within the zones colder outer H- region.
- It receives lower levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits inside the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Dennson is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Dennson has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Dennson has 15-25% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. There may be a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.
- The world experiences low temperatures.
- Much of the surface is a frigid, hostile environment.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- The presence of native life is limited to anaerobic forms
- Given the planet-clearing red-giant phase of the secondary star, these must be of a relatively recent evolutionary history.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Dennson is a major shipbuilding center and industrial hub. There is constant demand for food, consumables such as cleaning products, and luxuries of all kinds.
- The resources of the system are being heavily exploited.
There is constant activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is frequent: ships regularly arrive and depart.
- Commo is buzzing with signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- Multiple commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- Large numbers of vessels will be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Dennson has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- Multiple military and commercial dockyards hang in orbit.
World Population (P)[edit]
Dennson has a population of 40,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
Urbanization[edit]
Vast self-governing megacities are home to the entire population.
- The vast cities are dotted around the twilight zone.
- Each city is connected by a comprehensive network of maglev and hyperloop links.
- Structures and facilities are sealed against local environmental conditions.
- Resource extraction sites are dotted across the surface.
- The hot face and the cold face of the world largely remain as wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Dennson possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-3.
World Government (G)[edit]
Dennson has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
- Each megacity is an independent self-governing entity.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 100 million personnel.
- Each megacity maintains its own standing army.
World Law (L)[edit]
Dennson has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 4 (important)
It is the headquarters for Wilcox Mining and Development.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: F (extremely abundant)
- Labor: 9 (billions)
- Infrastructure: F (very comprehensive)
- Efficiency: +4 (advanced)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: A (discordant)
- Acceptance: E (extremely xenophilic)
