It is a member of Third Imperium in the Regina Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Yres, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Additional system details can be found here.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Yres is located in the Regina Subsector of the Spinward Marches. It has a normal climate and a standard oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere that is highly radioactive.

It orbits within its star's habitable zone.

The world has a fast rotation period: one local day is equivalent to 6 standard hours.

Additional mainworld data can be found here.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Yres is a Big World between 15,200km and 16,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1.1G and 1.5G. The horizon will appear about 5.7km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Yres has an Insidious Atmosphere which requires the use of a Hostile Environment Suit or Vacc Suit, but extreme conditions cause the corrosive effects to defeat any personal protective measures in a few hours. TL–10 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Yres has 55-65% of its surface covered by a fluid other than water. Wilderness refueling is not possible. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds may be Hell Worlds.

  • This surface fluid may be ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids depending on the local temperature and environment.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Yres has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

The starport, nested in the small neutral zone between the two nations, displays the Imperium's indifference between the two rival governments. Since the revolution, the household of von Talbot relocated to Menorb and has been elevated in status to the seat of the 8th Count of Regina.

World Demographics[edit]

The world's 34 million inhabitants, as divided as they are, can no longer instill rebellion for fear of being crushed by each other. However, neither can they choose a productive course for the world. This social conflict, as deadly as the corrosive atmosphere of the world, has created a climate of fear and desperation, where large-scale sabotage in the vast underground cities is commonplace. It is even rumored by high-level sources that TAS is currently in deliberation with the rival governments over whether or not to classify the planet as an amber zone.

World Government (G)[edit]

Yres has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

In addition to Yres Startown, other major settlements on Yres include Magisburg and Ninlish.

The cities of this balkanised world are all underground and underwater. Visitors face an additional docking fee of 250 credits, which is an obligatory donation to the Yres Reconstruction & War Widows Fund.

Historical Data[edit]

Yres, once a proud monarchy ruled directly by the Marquis von Talbot, was reduced to anarchy after the Fourth Frontier War. Although, the war was won, the Marquis was killed, and the planet broke out into rebellion against the ruling family. After two decades of police action on Yres, the Imperium has broken the revolutionary movement and established two rival governments on the world: The Wonderful Community, a religious dictatorship with strict moral codes, and the YLU (Yresian Liberty Union), a charismatic dictatorship ruled by popular conservative, Arthur Kuzumi.

In 1084 the Battle of Two Suns was fought in deep space between Yres and Menorb (Spinward Marches 1803), ending the Fourth Frontier War with heavy losses on both Imperial and Zhodani sides.

Yres was subject to a devastating Vargr attack that killed 1.2 million citizens; many of these casualties were suffered during the destruction of an underwater habitat. The atmosphere is highly radioactive; iodine tablets are available from public dispensers throughout the cities.
