Vardi is a rich, pre-agricultural world with a moderate population of over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts in size.
- The world's agricultural industry is growing and some economists forecast an explosion in this world's agribusiness in the near future as new agro-technology and a more capable labor force are imported.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
- It is a subject world of the Korsumug Empire located in the Galaxa Subsector of Mavuzog Sector.
- It is the homeworld of the Vardin.
- About 90% of the population is composed of Vardin.
- About 10% of the population is composed of Jaibok.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Jump Shadow[edit]
The Jump Shadow of the primary star lies at 1.303 AU. The mainworld orbits beyond the safe jump distance.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Vardi is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Vardi has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Vardi has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites[edit]
Vardi retains two satellites, Ronax and Orta:
- Ronax, a small vacuum moon (UWP H200000-0, orbiting at 15 diameters / 210,000 km).
- It has an elliptical orbit.
- Ronax is the site of an emergency shelter.
- Orta, a hospitable world with native life (UWP F555769-9, orbiting at 25 diameters / 360,000 km).
- Orta has been heavily colonized and is a major agricultural producer.
Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]
A simple map of Vardi showing the oceans and seas, the major landmasses and islands, highland regions, and the large polar icecaps.
Native lifeforms[edit]
Extensive, abundant native life. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- The land surface of the world is primarily forested. Flora types vary between environmental regions but most have greenish-blue disc-shaped foliage and thick stems.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Vardi is an important, thriving world on the spinward side of Mavuzog Sector.
- It is the homeworld of a minor race called the Vardin.
- It is a part of Vardin Space.
In 978, Vardi was invaded and occupied by the Korsumug Empire. Despite more than a century of brutal Jaibok rule the Vardin continue to resist their oppressors and plan their liberation.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Vardi has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Vardi has a population of 500,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
- Approximately 90% of the population consists of Vardin.
- Around 10% of the population is made up of Jaibok settlers and warriors.
World Languages[edit]
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Vardi possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Vardi is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
World Law (L)[edit]
Vardi has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
Trade Data[edit]
Importance: +3 (ordinary)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 8 (moderate)
- Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
- Infrastructure: 7 (generally available)
- Efficiency: +1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: A (discordant)
- Acceptance: B (extremely friendly)
- Strangeness: 5 (distinct)
- Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
