History & Background[edit]

SWEPDOSA Colony Services Ltd

Small Independent Colonization Packs (SICP)

One of the base rules during the SICP Design of the Architects from Ethlum Industrial Design was to create a cheap Pack without missing Quality. One of the methods to reach the goal, was to reuse old proved quality. To support a new colony with mining is inevitable which operates independently for a duration of time, which fits to the Colony Ship.

They took an old 200t Type A2 Far Trader, which proved its reliability a million times and modified it, completely overhauling its engineering section. Next they changed the following:

  • Redesign of the cold berth room to a 3ton Biosphere, sufficient for 6 Crew Members
  • Fixed closing the left Freight door, installation of a 10 ton Mining Drone area including docking area with exit of the left, closed freight area
  • installation of simple turret with one Drill Laser
  • with the upper deck they did a complete core removal and an installation of a Mineral Smelter, a Mineral Refinery, a Workshop and a direct connection to the freight area for a nearly automated chain processing and storage.
  • update the sensors section to Improved Quality & Mineral Detection Suite
  • the cabins in the ground floor were modified to double occupancy.
  • fuel tank was increased to 43 instead of 41 tons, which update operating time up to 12 weeks and one Jump-2.

In theory they could work two shifts each 3 people.

The SICP ships and the whole SICP were sold by SWEPDOSA Colony Services Ltd, built by and on Ithaqua and Britten Yards and Engineering. Cost of the Overhaul and the update, is about MCr16 , without the purchase of the ship itself. A new construction cost about MCr65.
