Tsodr is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a member of the Province of Jadlapriants, part of the Zhodani Consulate located in the Neqloch Subsector of Tienspevnekr Sector.
- It is the homeworld of the Clotho.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
This system is part of the Qadre'idr Main (translated from the Zdetl as Forceful Arm or Forceful Reach).
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Tsodr is a Big World between 15,200km and 16,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1.1G and 1.5G. The horizon will appear about 5.7km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Tsodr has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Tsodr has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
Fauna includes the six-legged scavenger Xaafi, which enjoys almost the same position of affection among Clotho as do kittens among Humans -- except that most Xaafi are generally eaten by their owners once becoming adults.
Native Sophont (NIL): Clotho[edit]
Tsodr is the homeworld of the Clotho sophonts. Clotho evolved from nocturnal carnivore/trappers in the planet's forests.
The Clotho have been mistaken in some Imperial sources for the Addaxur, as both are six-limbed carnivores with a long history of alliance with the Zhodani.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
This is a Reservation World, belonging to a friendly non-Human race that has signed binding treaties with the Zhodani Consulate.
The population figures only note the Zhodani residents; why this should be the case, when the Clotho are full participants in the Consulate, is unclear. It has been theorised that it might have something to do with the near-religious devotion Clotho have to cleanliness and environmental harmony; they don't wish to "befoul" the planet with what is to them an untidy emphasis on their presence.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Tsodr has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Tsodr has a population of 500,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- As noted, this figure only includes the Zhodani.
World Languages[edit]
The Clotho languages are visual in nature, consisting of woven silk patterns produced by Clotho sibling pairs.
Urbanization[edit]
Much of any town or city is out of sight, either above the trees or below ground. The Clotho prefer to build vertically rather than horizontally.
Buildings and rooms within them are arranged in three dimensions, with plenty of claw holds; this is the only way that several thousand Clotho pairs can have space to weave conversations in their visual language.
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Tsodr possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-2.
World Government (G)[edit]
Tsodr is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Law (L)[edit]
Tsodr has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Trade and Technology[edit]
Clotho technology is similar to that of the Zhodani, with an average of TL-10.
The Clotho excel at subterranean construction. Medical technology, though, is not quite up to the Zhodani standard.
Remarkably clean fusion power is supplemented by wind, tidal and geothermal energy sources.
Cheap in-system travel is provided by solar-sail vessels.
