Tshi is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by indigenous Sophonts located in the Evalren Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
  • It is a secondary world in the Bytholm system.
  • It orbits the secondary star.
  • It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
  • It was once known as Angholm.
  • 100% of the population consists of Tshini.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Bytholm is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a turbulent blue-white bright giant named Angriff.
  • The secondary is a blue-white main sequence named Pelten.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Secondary World Data[edit]

Tshi orbits within the secondary star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zones warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Chart H+ Region Mw.png

It has a relatively slow rotation period: one local day is equivalent to 2.8 standard days (approximately 67 standard hours).

Secondary World Size (S)[edit]

Tshi is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Secondary World Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Tshi has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Secondary World Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Tshi has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.

Satellites:[edit]

Tshi retains a small vacuum moon named Zetho.

  • It orbits once every few weeks.

  • Far more detailed maps are available locally.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Primitive native lifeforms fill most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

Many lifeforms (both flora and fauna) native to Zephor have been transplanted to Tshi. They appear to be thriving in the local conditions.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Tshi is a backwater that sees few visitors. It is a secondary world in the Bytholm system.

  • Information about the world is limited.
  • The resources of the world are being tapped.

There is little activity within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is very infrequent: ships rarely visit.
  • Angriff, the system's gigantic primary star, causes constant interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.
  • Commo occasionally picks up signals and private chatter from the worlds surface. Communications are in local Tshini languages.
  • The system does not have any commercial navigation beacons.
  • Vessels are unlikely be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

A large community of Tshini, native to Zephor in Corelian Subsector, have made the world their new home. Prior to their settlement the planet was known as Angholm.

The Kingdom of Peladon was instrumental in facilitating the move to Tshi, providing starships to transport the Tshini, large amounts of supplies, and experts who were able to assist with their resettlement.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date: previously undocumented groups may now inhabit the system and maintain their own culture, forms of government, and systems of law.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Spaceport (St)[edit]

Tshi has a Class G Spaceport, poor quality secondary installation for handing expected in-system traffic. It can supply a only a few amenities. There is unrefined fuel available for purchase. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Tshini Sophont Species.jpg

Tshi has a population of 40,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
  • The population is entirely composed of Tshini (representing more than 80% of extant members of the species).

Urbanization[edit]

A few small widely separated urban areas surrounded by satellite communities.

  • Outlying areas have a few isolated structures or compounds.
  • Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Tshi possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.

World Government (G)[edit]

Tshi is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.

World Law (L)[edit]

Tshi has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources 8 (moderate)
  • Labor 3 (thousands)
  • Infrastructure 1 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency -5 (extremely poor)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity 1 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance 1 (extremely xenophobic)
  • Strangeness 2 (typical)
  • Symbols 2 (very concrete)
