Syntaxis is a pre-agricultural, pre-Industrial world with a moderate population of over a hundred million, but not yet a billion sophonts.
- It requires significant imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to slowly improve barring outside forces.
- It is a member of the Rukadukaz Republic, a member of the Julian Protectorate, in the Vector Subsector of Amdukan Sector, which is located in the Vargr Extents.
- This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
- This world-system has a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
This world is part of the cluster known as the Lusliki Links.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The oppressive government apparatus of Syntaxis must be navigated with care, making this world the Julian Protectorate equivalent of an Amber Zone.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Syntaxis has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Syntaxis has a population of 800,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).
World Demographics[edit]
- Human, around 85% (mostly Vilani): Around 680,000,000
- Vargr, 10% (mostly Ovaghoun Vargr): Around 80,000,000
- Statistically small (but still substantial) numbers of other races such as Bwap and Hhkar: Around 40 million
World Languages[edit]
- Ikonaz Vargr: A form of the dominant Ovaghoun language in the Ikonaz Sphere (and so in the Rukadukaz Republic).
- Ikonaz Vilani: A variant of the above altered to suit Human vocalization.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Syntaxis possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Syntaxis is governed by a Non-charismatic Dictatorship. This is a continuation of the charismatic dictatorship, where the original leadership has died or retired and been replaced by allies or protégés. The justifications for the original change in government remain as well as the assertion of rights to rule.
World Law (L)[edit]
Syntaxis has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. Most worlds with this law level may be an Amber Zone or Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. There is no difference between the police and the military. This world is a full-fledged police state. Oppression is legalized, though not routine.
World Timeline[edit]
Major events that have affected this world and the wider region that it lies within include the following:
- -1711: Near the end of the Vargr Pillaging, the proto-Ovaghoun conquer the world of Ikon.
- Over time, the local Vilani culturally overrun their Vargr overlords, reshaping the Ovaghoun Vargr into a distinct, almost hybridised culture.
- -55: The Mmoannikh Accords between representatives of Logaksu Vargr and Ovaghoun Vargr societies ends a series of conflicts between the two cultures.
- The Accords are rejected by the central Ikonaz government, leading to a shattering of the unity of the Ovaghoun.
- 175-191: The Julian War, which sees numerous attacks on Ikon, all of which fail in breaking the homeworld of the Ovaghoun.
- The Ikonaz become a prominent member bloc of the Julian Protectorate.
- Circa 723: The Association of Good Wolves, the current government of Ikon, encourages the emigration of the working (i.e. Irilitok Vargr) classes to other, nearby worlds -- going so far as to subsidise 70% of the cost involved.
- Circa 937-940: The Fellowship of Nobles, the current Ikonaz government, collapses.
- The Rukadukaz Republic is founded as the government of the Ikonaz Sphere in the aftermath.
- 942: The Julian Protectorate and the Hegemony of Lorean formally sign the Treaty of Var-Inaka (restricting naval basing) and the Julian Concord, incorporating the Hegemony into the Protectorate.
- The Rukadukaz insist upon a 'buffer zone' of neutral systems between their territory and the Loreans.
