The Spike-Rho Route is a reconstruction of the central section of the pre-Empress Wave trade route between the Solomani Preserve and the Yaskoydri Technocracy. All data in this article is as of 1105 unless marked otherwise.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The Spike-Rho Route is a jump-3 route between Core Spike and Mondome, leading through (and primarily sustained by) the Federation of the Fused Mains, essentially spanning the coreward side of Gakghang Sector. Most of the systems have functioning starports; the two exceptions, Gliroc and Drylit, have well-surveyed gas giants for wilderness refueling.

Systems along the route are generally patrolled and free of pirate activity. As of 1105, though, the Corsair Lyceum is putting pressure on Aye Sye Fye and Smo Pou Mou, resulting in routine warship presence from the Solomani Preserve, Rho Cluster, and Federation of the Fused Mains. This is "warship" in relative terms for the region: there is not a single military hull on either side more than 2,000 tons (this does not count paramilitary and civilian ships).

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Ever since 1 when the Solomani Preserve learned of the Yaskoydri Technocracy from the ruins on and around Bridgeholm and sent an expedition to make contact, there was substantial trade between Havensmith and Yaskoyloyt despite the worlds being about two sectors apart. Many colonies sprouted along this route to sustain the trade.

In the mid-1000s, the Empress Wave shattered this route, as it shattered many things before and since. Once the immediate aftermath was dealt with, the survivors had a cultural identity linked with being on the trade route, and so put a higher priority than most Empress Wave survivors on reestablishing interstellar trade. While the result is lesser than the original, it is still substantial enough to note on maps of Gakghang Sector.

That said, traders from the Yaskoydri Technocracy deal on Core Spike, and traders from the Solomani Preserve deal on Mondome, to acquire items sourced from the other end, and to supply items believed to be desired at the other end.
