Norma Arm

The Norma Arm is the next spiral arm of Galaxias to coreward of the Scutum-Centaurus Arm.

• It is part of Galaxias or the "The Milky Way."

LOCAL GALACTIC STRUCTURE:

Map combining both concepts: The "Rimward Spur" of the more coreward arm joins further to spinward with the Perseus Arm, of which it is a coreward branch.

The Norma Arm, which becomes both the Cygnus and Norma-Outer Arms (the extension of the Norma Arm lying on this side of Galaxias at its Outer Rim) is a minor arm lies coreward of the major arm known as the Scutum Arm. The arm begins as a coreward split from the Scutum-Centaurus Arm on the Near side of the Galaxy, eventually becoming the Cygnus-Outer Arm and possibly splitting to rimward and continuing around the Outer Rim as the Norma-Outer Arm which winds around the near side of Galaxias. What may lie within this part of the arm opposite the Galactic Core remains unknown.

History & Background (Dossier)

Little is known for sure concerning this region of the galaxy other than rumor. There are some unconfirmed reports of a small human federation some distance trailing of the Norma/Centaurus Arm "split". Some Scouts have made mention of something in the region "out there" . Other than that, most is either speculation or wild hearsay.
