Mainworld Data

• Nilabos is a satellite of the large gas giant Udersep. The gas giant is located in the habitable zone of the systems star. Udersep has an orbital period of 243.26 standard days.
• The satellite of Nilabos is tidally locked to the gas giant and as a result it doesnt rotate around its own axis and has one side permanently facing the gas giant and one facing away. Its habitable zone is located in a small area of the satellite that is ideal for life to exist.
• The satellite orbits the gas giant every 192.84 standard days.
• Nilabos has an axial tilt of 21 degrees.
• The twilight region of Nilabos, although habitable is cold with an average temperature of -2.66c / 27.22f

Mainworld Size (S)

Nilabos is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.

• The planet has a diameter of 3471 miles / 5534 kilometres
• Nilabos has a molten core with a density of 0.92 standard.
• The surface gravity of the planet is 0.35 standard and is therefore classified as a low gravity world.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Nilabos has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. This atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds, which requires the use of a Filter Respirator Combination Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

• The atmosphere of Nilabos is registered as "Standard Oxygen-Nitrogen with a Sulphur Taint". This does mean that non-native sophonts require breathing gear if operating outside of sealed air tight locations.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Nilabos has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

• The surface of the planet has been surveyed and 73% of its surface is covered in what is classified as "Tainted Liquid Water".
• The water is located in the twilight zone and dark side of the planets surface. On the edge of the twilight zone and pushing into the light side of the planet the sulphurous content of the water is gaseous in form.

Satellites:

• Nilabos is a satellite in its own right and has no satellites of its own.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

• The twilight zone of the world is dominated by cold tundra with a number of relatively small and extremely rocky hills.
• The tundra is comprised of hard frozen earth and has several varieties of "grass" growing up to a height of 1-2m.

Native Lifeforms

• Nilabos is populated by c.7m sophonts. Although the majority of this population human colonists there is also a significant population of another sophont race the Augrin
• The Augrin population across Nilabos is in excess of 2 million.
• The Augrin are a minor race and have not yet developed the technology to achieve space flight. Currently the Augrin society is classified as TL:3

• In addition to the Human and Augrin population numerous other land based creatures exist as part of the planetary ecosystem. The majority of these creatures are no bigger than 5-10kg in mass and all tend to live in burrows below the surface.

World Starport (St)

Nilabos has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

Facilities

Port facilities within the system include:

• The planet of Nilabos has not yet delivered on its early promise as being rich with ores and other materials. As a result the starport has never been expanded much beyond a few landing pads.
• The port offers a small amount of warehousing and several of the pads do have a small maintenance capability, however this capability is limited to provision of power supplies and shared tools. The starship crews themselves are expected to carry out their own repairs.

World Government (G)

Nilabos is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is by representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referenda, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

• The Nilabos government operates with very little difference to other representative democracies. The members of the planetary government are voted into office every 5 years. This cycle is believed to offer the best chance for change to be introduced by those who are elected.
• To avoid "lifer" politicians remaining in power no individual is allowed to stay in office beyond 10 years.
• In addition to the human and other interstellar sophonts the local government also maintains a small delegation of Augrin councillors to ensure the native sophonts are also included in decision making related to activities across the planet.
• The Augrin most senior council meets in the Augrin capital. The city dominated by Augrin population does maintain a non-Augrin enclave a short distance away from the city that is also adjacent to the starport. This council meets daily to discuss matters of interest to the Augrin population.

World Military

• The human population maintain a small "police force" on planet that works to ensure the non Augrin population operate within the law whilst also providing a level of protection to the citizens of the planet. They do not get involved in Augrin society and leave such activities to the Augrin themselves.
• The Augrin also maintain a "police force" of their own that also serves as a militaristic organisation. The Augrin units though are more akin to a militia that protects the various Augrin urban areas.

World Law (L)

Nilabos has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

• Across the twilight region the planet there are numerous small towns that are heavily dominated by Augrin populations. Although human are the large sophont group they do maintain small enclaves near to the towns and the starport. In addition there are a number of human only urban areas located far from Augrin ones.
• The largest urban area on the planet is the capital city of the Augrin and is located a few miles from the starport and its associated star town districts.
