System Data[edit]

Erales-Mazeer System[edit]

The primary is Erales, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.352 Sols, a mass of 0.774 Sols, and a diameter of 1.168 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (II) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world. (III) Mazeer orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a vacuum worldlet, (V-I) a small gas giant, and (V-II) a small ice giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Versatil Subsystem[edit]

The companion is Versatil, a red subdwarf star that orbits Erales at a mean distance of 21.2 AU (orbital position (IX), 3.17 billion km) and has an orbital period of 111 years. It has a luminosity of 0.0038 Sols, a mass of 0.114 Sols, and a diameter of 167,000 km. (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (III) an exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. All of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(III) Mazeer[edit]

(III) Mazeer is designated the mainworld. It orbits Erales at a mean distance of 0.59 AU (88.3 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 188 days 4 hours and a rotation period of 63 hours. The axial tilt is 23 degrees. Mazeer has a diameter of 8,645 km, a density of 4.22 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.52 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.52 bar and a composition of 83% nitrogen (N2), 15% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapor (H2O), radon (Rn), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the low percentage of atmospheric oxygen and the presence of radioactive gases: radiation levels exceed 0.5 rads per hour. Approximately 38% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.3m. Mean surface temperature: 37°C. The atmosphere is active and strong weather systems driven by the star and the seas work across the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Satellite[edit]

Mazeer retains a single natural satellite, a trace atmosphere worldlet named Ardent:

(IIIa) Ardent (UWP Y310000-0, orbiting at 25 Diameters/215,000 km)

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Total surface area: 235 million km², Land surface area: 146 million km², Water surface area: 89 million km².

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Erales-Mazeer System[edit]

The hot marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (II) (within the H– region of the inner system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and moisture. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

Mazeer, the mainworld, has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal. These organisms are gradually changing the the density and composition of the atmosphere.

The small gas giant lying in orbital position (V-I) (within the outer system) has jovionoid lifeforms within its atmosphere.

No other world in the system is known to have native life.

Versatil Subsystem[edit]

No world in the subsystem is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Mazeer is a member of the ANMaN Worlds. Most of the agricultural products are the result of genetically modified strains designed to cope with this world's unique characteristic features. Many of the crops are grown in vast greenhouses to prevent radioactive environmental contamination. Native sulfur fixing methanogens of the living rock don't work well next to these carefully curated crops of distant terrestrial origin. Workers move to and from these labor-intensive hot houses on an impressive system of crude electric monorails. Airlocks, overpressure and personal filtration and supplemental oxygen combined with environmental protective clothing are the norm. Huge concrete structures, tower near each agricultural production node, essential to bring labor in and carry crops to the starport trade hubs and commodities markets. Food brokerages command disproportionate wealth and wield considerable political influence behind the scenes. Towns are delineated by clusters of tall colonial aged apartment spires which dot the sky line. These uniform and ubiquitous constructs are made possible by high technology legacy materials and in part by the lower local gravity. All biomass is completely recycled and waste is intolerable in this culture. Pollution is a horrifying concept and they endeavor to maintain a very low environmental impact to the extent of using imported advanced TL–7 alien carbon scrubbing filtration technology to compensate for their low tech power generation systems. Skills in combat and weapons are quite rare in this thoroughly pacified population. Extremely small numbers of natives enlist in the military units. Many are foreign mercenaries and military contractors from off world. Armed ship crews trying to bring in their daily carry will be met with stern resistance.

World starport[edit]

Mazeer has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

World technology level[edit]

Mazeer possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.

World government[edit]

Mazeer is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
