Hhurster is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Duhamel Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
- It is a balmy tropical world, with a climate of high temperatures.
- This world is administered by a planetoid-state on Verstand.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Hhurster has a solitary primary star.
- It is a blue-white main sequence.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x7 secondary rocky worlds.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
- It receives higher levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the star's Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Hhurster is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Hhurster has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Hhurster has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites:[edit]
Hhurster retains a small, close, very thin atmosphere moon.
- It orbits once every few weeks.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Hhurster is an agricultural outpost of a planetoid-state of Verstand. The world's technological base and infrastructure are gradually being upgraded.
- The resources of the system are being exploited.
There is little activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is relatively infrequent: ships occasionally visit.
- Commo regularly picks up signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- One or two commercial navigation beacons may be active.
- A number of vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Hhurster has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Hhurster has a population of 700,000.
Urbanization[edit]
A few large urban centers are surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.
- Large areas are given over to agriculture.
- Much of the surface of the world remains as wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Hhurster possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Hhurster has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
- The world is administered by a planetoid-state of Verstand.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 2500 personnel.
World Law (L)[edit]
Hhurster has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 7 (few)
- Labor: 4 (tens of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 3 (very limited)
- Efficiency: -3 (poor)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -1 (unimportant)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 3 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 4 (extremely aloof)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
World Timeline[edit]
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
