Guayaquil is a low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.
- This world has yet to take off economically or otherwise and the population remains low for reasons largely unknown.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Zachrisson Subsector of Fulani Sector.
- It is a mainworld which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Guayaquil is a binary star system.
- The primary is a yellow main sequence.
- The secondary is a brown dwarf substellar object.
System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x3 gas giants.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Guayaquil is a satellite of a gas giant.
The mainworld and its gas giant primary orbit within the star's Habitable Zone.
- They lie within the zone's prime H region.
- They receive moderate levels of stellar energy.
- The gas giant is "puffy", warm and swollen due to the energy it receives from the star.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Guayaquil is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
- Tidal stresses generated by the world's gas giant primary world cause frequent seismic and geological activity.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Guayaquil has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
- It experiences moderate temperatures.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Guayaquil has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.
- The worlds seas experience extreme tides.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly watery world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Guayaquil is a backwater outpost with almost no development.
- The resources of the system are largely untapped.
There is limited activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is sporadic: ships occasionally visit.
- Commo picks up occasional signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- A number of commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- A vessel or two may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Guayaquil has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Guayaquil has a population of 900 sophonts (hundreds).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
Urbanization[edit]
A single central facility, lying close to the starport, with a few outlying structures and compounds.
- Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Guayaquil possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World Government (G)[edit]
Guayaquil is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.
World Military[edit]
Privately retained security personnel.
World Law (L)[edit]
Guayaquil has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
