Facility
A Facility is a specialized compound, usually military or paramilitary in nature, used to house buildings used by well-funded organizations or institutions, and are usually associated with larger polities and megacorporations.
- Typically, a facility consists of several buildings on a compound, but a compound with just one building is not unheard of.
- These buildings are typically called bases or stations, although many other names exist for them.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Facilities can be as simple as TL-1 structures with roofs, really not much more than shelter from the elements. As technology marches on, so do structures and facilities. Eventually, very large and impressive Megastructures become an important part of life: arcologies, hab domes, and the like.
Territoriality & Sovereignty[edit]
The Third Imperium is known for having a very flexible sense of sovereignty over its member worlds. Except for purpose built structures and territories such as military bases, starports, and the like, most other facilities default to the local noble and government.
Nobility & Nationality[edit]
In the case of the Third Imperium, a very decentralized system of control exists in which some facilities may belong to the local government, some to the local noble, and others to the interstellar government of the Emperor. Each might have different senses of sovereignty and nationality.
