Chanshonie is a poor, high-population desert world, with a billion or more sophonts struggling to survive in a inhospitable environment.
- This world has no free-standing water.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Trasfalca Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Chanshonie has a solitary primary star.
- It is a huge and turbulent orange bright giant named Karasaz.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x9 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 planetoid belts.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data[edit]
No information yet available.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Chanshonie is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Chanshonie has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Chanshonie has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
Satellites:[edit]
No information yet available.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive native life. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Chanshonie is a world that should not exist. The star has too short a lifespan - a few tens of million years at most - for orbiting bodies to evolve beyond the molten protoplanet stage, yet Chanshonie is a fully formed, mature world. It has been suggested that the world has been extensively terraformed but there is little evidence to support this. There are few ideas about how or why it could have been done, or indeed who could actually have done it.
- The geological structure of the world indicates it is at least a billion years old.
- Academics continue to debate the world's origins.
- Some propose that it is a previously unrecorded Ancients site.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Chanshonie has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Demographics (P)[edit]
Chanshonie has a population of 8 billion.
Urbanization[edit]
Multiple large cities, each surrounded by smaller satellite communities.
- Cities are located across the world.
- Regional centers have their own starports.
- Some regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Chanshonie possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Chanshonie is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
World Military[edit]
Approximately 20 million personnel.
World Law (L)[edit]
Chanshonie has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: B (abundant)
- Labor: 7 (hundreds of millions)
- Infrastructure: 9 (extensive)
- Efficiency: -2 (fair)
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: 0 (unimportant)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 7 (discordant)
- Acceptance: 9 (friendly)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 5 (concrete)

- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
