Bucher is a low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in size.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Bucher has a solitary primary star.

  • It is a blue-white main sequence.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zones warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Bucher is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Bucher has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Bucher has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Satellites[edit]

Bucher retains two small vacuum moons.

  • They orbit once every few weeks.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

  • Locally, detailed maps may be available.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native lifeforms[edit]

Abundant native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Bucher is a corporate outpost. It hosts a commercial operations base for the Talokan Trade Authority.

  • Information about the system is sparse.
  • The resources of the system are being explored.

There is ongoing corporate activity within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is relatively frequent: ships occasionally arrive and depart.
  • Commo regularly picks up signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
  • Multiple commercial navigation beacons will be active.
  • One or two vessels may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Bucher has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Bucher has population of 700 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.

Urbanization[edit]

A single central facility, adjacent to the starport, with a few outlying structures and compounds.

  • Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Bucher possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Bucher is governed by a Corporate Polity with a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. A company town, or world. The typical corporate run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.

World Military[edit]

Corporate security personnel.

World Law (L)[edit]

Bucher has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

Importance: +1 (ordinary)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: D (very abundant)
  • Labor: 1 (tens)
  • Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: +1 (average)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 3 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
