Arlan's Moon is a low-population desert world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- This world has no free-standing water.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Hardgraft Subsector of Harea Sector.
- It is a mainworld which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
- This is a temperate world, with a climate of pleasant, average temperatures, considered to be an ideal or near-ideal environment by many different sophont species.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Stellar Data[edit]
Arlan's Moon has a solitary primary star.
- It is a turbulent red giant named Almakeda.
- It can be seen from across Charted Space.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x3 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 gas giant.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Arlan's Moon is a satellite of a gas giant.
The mainworld and its gas giant primary orbit within the star's Habitable Zone.
- They lie within the zone's prime H region.
- They receive moderate levels of stellar energy.
- The gas giant is "puffy", warm and swollen due to the energy it receives from the star.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Arlan's Moon is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Arlan's Moon has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. A Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear and will likely be easy for most sophonts to breathe.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Arlan's Moon has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.
- Temperatures are generally moderate.
- The world has an arid, hostile surface environment.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
- Locally, detailed maps may be available.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
(Placeholder chart, predominantly dry world.)
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Primitive native life occupying a number of ecological niches. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Native life thrives in arid conditions.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Arlan's Moon is a corporate outpost. It currently has very little development, though construction of a number of large commercial facilities, along with worker accommodation and supporting infrastructure, is in an advanced planning stage.
- The resources of the system are being explored.
There is ongoing corporate activity within the system.
- Commercial traffic is sporadic: ships occasionally visit.
- Commo picks up occasional signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
- The star causes interference, strange tones and noises, and heavy static on commo and sensors.
- A number of commercial navigation beacons will be active.
- Vessels occasionally operate among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.
Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
World starport[edit]
Arlan's Moon has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- The port facilities are newly constructed.
World Population (P)[edit]
Arlan's Moon has population of 100 sophonts (hundreds).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
Urbanization[edit]
A single central facility, lying close to the starport, with a few outlying structures and compounds.
- Almost all of the surface of the world is wilderness.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Arlan's Moon possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Arlan's Moon is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
- The world is controlled by the Arshugan Consortium.
World Military[edit]
Corporate security personnel.
World Law (L)[edit]
Arlan's Moon has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 6 (few)
- Labor: 1 (tens)
- Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: +1 (above average)
Trade Data[edit]
Importance: -2 (unimportant)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 1 (very typical)
- Symbols: A (abstract)
