Utor-Afkhar System[edit]
The primary is Utor, an orange giant star. It has a luminosity of 380 Sols, a mass of 5.52 Sols, and a diameter of 70.1 million km – the corona extends to 0.23 AU, beyond orbital position (I). The inner system consists of (II) a very hot small gas giant, (VI) a dense stony planetoid belt, (VII) a trace atmosphere inner world, and (VIII) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world – orbital position (I) lies within the star and orbital positions (III), (IV) and (V) are empty. (IX) Ranesh, an exotic atmosphere radworld, orbits within the habitable zone: (IXb) Afkhar is its outer satellite and is designated the mainworld. (X) a thin atmosphere hospitable world, (XI) a trace atmosphere iceworld, (XII) a ringed large gas giant, (XIII-I) a large gas giant, and (XIII-II) a very thin atmosphere radworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
(IX) Ranesh[edit]
(IX) Ranesh (UWP H8A3000-0) is designated a radworld. It orbits Utor at a mean distance of 18.2 AU (2.72 billion km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 33 years 17 days and a rotation period of 25.5 hours. The axial tilt is 16 degrees. Ranesh has a diameter of 13,360 km, a density of 5.71 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.08 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Exotic, with a mean surface pressure of 2.34 bar and a composition of 95% nitrogen (N2), 3% carbon dioxide (CO2), 1% abiotic oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), neon (Ne), radon (Rn) and other trace gases. Ranesh has relatively high levels of background radiation: emission rates exceed 12 rads per hour. Approximately 26% of the surface is covered in hot seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.3m. Mean surface temperature: 73°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the seas surge across the globe. The climate is seasonal.

(IXb) Afkhar is the outer of the two major moons of (IX) Ranesh and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 30 diameters (397,000 km), with an orbital period of 27 days 5 hours: it is tidally locked to Ranesh. The axial tilt is 4 degrees. Afkhar has a diameter of 8,643 km, a density of 6.11 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.75 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Ranesh cause regular geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, with a mean surface pressure of 1.93 bar and a composition of 78% nitrogen (N2), 21% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 0.5% of the surface is covered in lakes of liquid water: average tidal ranges are negligible. Mean surface temperature: 38°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and strong weather systems driven by the star sweep across the globe. The climate is static.

Afkhar, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (X) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
The large gas giant lying in orbital position (XII) (within the outer system) has jovionoid lifeforms within its atmosphere.

Afkhar has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
