Oewni is a world suited to becoming an agricultural world, but with a population between 10,000 and 100,000 sophonts, but lacks the capability to produce or process sufficient resources to export its projected agricultural produce. Government control of this world is by an external military force. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Shallows Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Oewni, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of an Imperial knight and a baronet. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Zikhiirke.
Astrography and planetology
Oewni was one of several worlds in Shallows to be land granted by Makhidkarun to the Universal Church of God in order to ensure that the existing colonists would be prevented in the future from 'further' rebellion against the Imperium. The system's inhabitants, primarily Lancians and Ziadd, were forcibly 'converted' to Universalism against their will and so began a dark age of religious and cultural repression that was to last for centuries.

Mainworld Topography and Geography
Oewni is renowned as a planet of great majestic beauty, covered in mist and constant rain. The Great Valley regions of Bountiful and Brimstone, near the Inner Sea of the northern continent, are the only settled region. The majority of the planet -- consisting of scrublands, tropical swamps, or desert -- has not been truly explored.
Native Lifeforms
- Carra, the primary food supply on Oewni; an extremely nutritious, shrimp-like creature farmed in shallow artificial mudflats.
- Darac Tree
- Myg, a mosquito-like biting insect, dangerous to Humans.
- Oewni Serpents, semi-aquatic snake-like creatures.
- Sevt, an otter-like mammal.
History and background
Oewni was initially colonised by humans sometime prior to -6,000. It was always assumed that this had been a lost Vilani colony but, in 877, archaeologists working on one of the few surviving ruins found a carved wooden statue and a series of intricate stone carvings that appeared to be Loeskalth in origin. Most still hold to the theory that these were probably brought to Oewni by conquering Vilani. However, some believe this was a Loeskalth colony established by survivors fleeing the Vilani.
This original colony was destroyed by a cometary impact in -3,900. In -1,921 the planet was again colonised, this time by Kukhunen fundamentalists. The colony was never very large, primarily due to certain mutagenic compounds in the soil. 200 years later the neo-Lancian colony was joined on Oewni by exiled Ziadd. In time, Universalist Solomani established themselves here, and the three human societies formed blended cultures.
During the period known as the Civil War, many of the native Lancian and Ziadd descendants took the opportunity to rebel against the Universal Church of God and eventually, after a long and bloody uprising, successfully overthrew the existing church-led government. Despite partial recognition by the Imperium, Oweni is still the subject of fierce legal debate as the Universal Church (the government in exile) and the current Lancian government make claim and counter claim as to which of them is the legally appointed government. The argument is made even more awkward by the fact that even today nearly 50% of the population are practicing Universalists.
World Population (P)
Oewni has a population of 40,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Demographics
- 17% mixed Humaniti (Imperial mainstream)
- 8% pure Vilani
- 31% Lancian

Linguistic Topography
- Anglic: One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium
- Kehuu: The dominant language of the Lancian Cultural Region
- Klatha'sh: The dominant Ziadd language
- Vilani (language): One of the two official languages of the Third Imperium
Under Universalist rule all Lancian unbelievers were required to wear a tattoo of a Kehuu symbol. Today this tradition has taken on a cultural significance and many Oewni youth, Lancian and also Ziadd, wear tattoos.
World Cultures
Local Ziadd tend to worship the Goddess Kh'ish, represented by an eternal flame. On Oewni, although each household has its own hearth altar, a civic flame is kept burning in the Temple of Kh'ish, in the city of Gomorrah. Six females, representing the six local Chaiklin, are chosen to tend the flame. If the flame goes out, all business must stop until another divine spark can be fetched from Zeda. In addition to the altar, most Ziadd families cultivate native Oewni Serpents as a sign of Kh'ish which they drape around themselves as living jewellery.
