• They lie adjacent to the Isa Gap, a region of low stellar density.
• The Wilder Stars allow Jump-2 vessels to travel between the Sorority of Hygiea and the worlds of the Siridor Trace.

• The name is believed to derive from "wilderness".
• They are seen as a buffer zone against expansion by the Korsumug Empire.
• The interstellar states that surround them meddle in their internal affairs
