Ku Vu La is a barren world with no overt population, government, or law level.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

The Ku Vu La system lies on the spinward side of Siridor Subsector.

System Data[edit]

A diagram indicating the positions of all of the major worlds and satellites in the system. Distances are noted in AU.

Jump Shadow[edit]

The Jump Shadow of the star lies at 0.654 AU. The mainworld orbits at 0.44 AU, approximately 0.22 AU / 32.9 million km within the safe jump distance.

  • "Arrive and Stop" assumes an inward journey: the ship exits jumpspace at 0.654 AU / 100 stellar diameters with broadly the same relative motion as the mainworld. It accelerates to a halfway point, then decelerates to orbit around the mainworld.
  • "Arrive at Full Speed" assumes an outward journey: the ship departs orbit around the mainworld and continuously accelerates out to 0.654 AU, initiating jump when it arrives at a safe distance without slowing down.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Ku Vu La has been designated the mainworld.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

This world is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

This world has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

This world has 45-55% of its surface covered by liquid water. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Satellites:[edit]

1x small, heavily cratered vacuum moon named Gal Das, orbiting at 25 diameters.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

A simple map of Ku Vu La showing the major landmasses, highland regions, the oceans, seas, and lakes, and the polar icecaps.

  • The world was struck by a large planetoid hundreds of thousands of years ago, leaving a vast but shallow impact crater straddling the equator.
  • A long channel connecting the northern and southern oceans sees extreme tidal bores.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Extensive, abundant native life. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

Flora is generally colored dark green, aquamarine, or shades of violet.

  • All native life on Ku Vu La is extremely tolerant of radiation.
    • During periods of peak flare activity, native flora experiences explosive growth.
  • Ingesting native organisms will cause acute Radiation Poisoning.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Ku Vu La is a world with hostile surface conditions. It has never been settled.

  • A Red Zone warning is in place to indicate no chance of rescue if difficulties are experienced.

The name originates from the language of the Sorority of Hygiea, and loosely translates as "grave of the too (or overly) proud (or confident) warriors”, alluding to the survival training that some military forces undergo there.

World Starport[edit]

Ku Vu La does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

World Technology Level[edit]

Ku Vu La possesses a Technology Level of TL–0.

  • These worlds often contain a Proto-Sophont species beginning to establish a nascent civilization and society.
  • This world is in its Alpha Period and has not yet been interfered with by a higher technology civilization.
  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Bodily communicative apparati, courier-runners, and smoke signals.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Bodily muscle.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Bodily locomotion, riding beasts, and litters or sedan chairs.
    • Water: Swimming, rafts, and canoes.
    • Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability.

World Government[edit]

Ku Vu La has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

World Law[edit]

Ku Vu La has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

World Military[edit]

None.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources 6 (Few)
  • Labor 0 (Unpopulated)
  • Infrastructure 0 (Non-existant)
  • Efficiency +0 (None)

Trade Data[edit]

The world is relatively poor in minerals, with its primary resource being its native life.

  • All organisms are radioactive and are dangerous to handle without specialist equipment.

World Demographics[edit]

Population 0 (unpopulated)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity 0 (Unpopulated)
  • Acceptance 0 (Unpopulated)
  • Strangeness 0 (Unpopulated)
  • Symbols 0 (Unpopulated)

Historical Data[edit]

The world was struck by a meteor between 500,000 and 250,000 years ago. It hit near the equator, causing extinction levels of damage over much of the world, and left a vast but shallow crater.

  • Geological formations across the entire world show the effects of the impact.

Surviving lifeforms appear to have recovered and diversified extremely quickly, to the point where every available ecological niche is now filled.

Ku Vu La has never been settled.

World Timeline[edit]

  • ca 350: the first dated full system survey (found among data stored in a Talokani archive).
  • ca 800: mineral surveying is conducted on Ractor, the outermost major moon of the ice giant Paraphon. The site was abandoned within a decade of its founding.

UWP Listing[edit]

The world's UWP profile has not changed since its first known listing, dated ca 350.

  • During the 900s, it was proposed that Ku Vu La's atmosphere code be changed to Code A (Exotic Atmosphere) to better reflect the dangerous local conditions. This was never implemented.
