Fardeep is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.

  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Siridor Subsector of Mavuzog Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Stellar Data[edit]

Fardeep has a solitary primary star, named Erus.

  • It is a white main sequence.
  • It is considered a member of the Wilder Stars.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zone's warmer inner H+ region
  • It receives higher levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

This world is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

This world has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. A Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

This world has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

Satellites[edit]

Fardeep retains two small vacuum moons.

  • They orbit once every few weeks.

Native lifeforms[edit]

Abundant aquatic native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

  • All native lifeforms are marine organisms or flyers.
  • The world is home to giant marine megafauna.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Fardeep is a backwater water world with very little development. It was first surveyed in the early 400s and had a permanent population, engaged in commercial fishing, by the mid 700s. Independent belters established a mining operation in the Prossin Belt, on the outer edge of the system, around 1090. The exact nature of their work remains unclear: the outer belt is largely composed of frozen volatiles and ices, with few mineral resources.

  • The resources of the system are gradually being explored and exploited.

A number of organizations and private interests are active within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is sporadic: ships occasionally visit.
  • Commo regularly picks up signals and private chatter. Communications are in Riftian Anglic.
  • One or two commercial navigation beacons may be active.
  • A vessel or two is likely to be operating within the outer regions of the system.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Fardeep has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Fardeep has a population of 30,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Fardeep possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Fardeep is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.

World Military[edit]

Fardeep has no standing military. Citizens form armed militias in times of crisis.

World Law (L)[edit]

Fardeep has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

Fardeep's principal export is marine produce, including fish and processed fish products.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 8 (Moderate)
  • Labor: 3 (Thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 2 (Extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: -5 (Extremely poor)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 5 (Harmonious)
  • Acceptance: 1 (Extremely xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 9 (Extremely confusing)
  • Symbols: 5 (Concrete)

World Timeline[edit]

  • ca 400: First known survey (retrieved from a Talokani data archive).
  • ca 730: The first recorded outpost (a small fishing community) is established on the world.
  • ca 1090: Independent miners begin operations in the outer system.

UWP Listing[edit]

  • Survey data dating to the early 400s lists Fardeep's UWP as X88A000-0 Ba Wa
  • The settlement dating to the early 730s adjusted Fardeep's UWP to E88A220-5 Lo Wa
