The rank of Rear Admiral is the one of the senior commissioned officer rank in the Imperial Navy. The Admiral is given charge of one of the Numbered Fleets in a sector, usually the reserve fleet.
History & Background (Dossier)
Squadrons of the Imperial Navy, may be commanded by Rear Admirals if the role or size is such that a Commodore is not felt sufficiently senior.
