Orishada is a poor, low-population hellworld with a population less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

• Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
• This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below standard for Charted Space.
• It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Velous Subsector of Far Home Sector.

System data

The primary is Shalos, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.42 Sols, a mass of 0.825 Sols and a diameter of 1.263 million km. The inner system consists of (I, II) two small vacuum worlds. (III) Orishada orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a large gas giant forms the starward part of the outer system. Orbital positions (V) through (X) are unavailable due to the presence of the companion star and its worlds. (XI) a sparse icy planetoid belt forms the spaceward part of its outer system. Orishada and the gas giant retain satellites.

The companion is Manar, an ordinary red main sequence star that orbits Shalos at a mean distance of 20.2 AU (orbital position (IX), 3.021 billion km). It has a luminosity of 0.04 Sols, a mass of 0.489 Sols and a diameter of 356,000 km. (I) a small standard atmosphere world orbits orbits within its habitable zone. (II, III) two small gas giants form the outer system. Both of the gas giants retain satellites.

(III) Orishada

(III) Orishada orbits within the habitable zone is designated the mainworld. It orbits primary at a mean distance of 0.71 AU (106 million km) and an orbital period of 240 days 14 hours and a rotation period of 33 hours. The axial tilt is 15 degrees. Orishada has a diameter of 7,816 km, a density of 4.87 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.54 G. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.44 bar and a composition of 87% nitrogen, 11% oxygen, 1% carbon dioxide, and 1% argon, neon and other trace gases: the taint is caused by the low percentage of atmospheric oxygen. Approximately 22% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.25m. Mean surface temperature: 12°C. The atmosphere is sluggish and slow weather systems, driven by the star, crawl across the globe. The climate is seasonal and weather patterns follow regular cycles during the local year.

Native lifeforms

Orishada has primitive native life, largely consisting of microscopic organisms that exist anywhere that they can find water. The most advanced lifeforms are simple worms measuring millimeters in length. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal. A number of types of introduced flora survive and even thrive on the world.

World starport

Orishada has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
