The Kirov class Cruiser is a warship.

Description (Specifications)

Kirov class Heavy Cruisers are hard-working vessels serving with the navy of the Kostov Confederate Republic, a member state of the Solomani Confederation. They are powerful vessels, featuring a spinal-mounted meson gun as heavy as those carried by much larger battleships.

Basic Ship Characteristics

Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]

Basic Ship Characteristics [2]
No. Category Remarks
1. Tonnage The Kirov class is constructed using a 72,000 Ton hull built in a Close Structure configuration. The hull is partially streamlined, giving a relatively limited atmospheric performance largely reliant on its onboard gravitic systems. It is equipped with fuel scoops.
  • There are 55 airlocks located around the vessel. The cargo hold is accessed by large doors and has a loading ramp.
2. Crew 647 personnel. XX command, XX engineering, XX gunnery, XX service, XX medical, and XX stewards. There are XX Marines security personnel and XX flight crew.
  • Staterooms: XX single double occupancy.
  • Low berths: XX
    • Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems. There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel: individual sections of the hull can be sealed off. There are multiple emergency lockers.
3. Performance The vessel mounts a Jump-3 drive, a Maneuver-3 drive, and a Power Plant-6, giving performance of Jump-3 and 3-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 2 and an emergency agility of 3. There is fuel tankage of 25,920 Tons, sufficient for one Jump-3 and giving the power plant 4 weeks duration.
  • The engineering section has a main control room.
  • The jump drive utilises a lanthanum hull grid.
  • The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4. Electronics Adjacent to the bridge is a computer model/6fib: the vessel has a backup computer model/6fib.
  • The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, an advanced sensor array, and has an avionics suite.
    • It is fitted with backup commo and sensor systems.
  • It has a transponder unit that can be deactivaed on command.
  • It is equipped with a sophisticated ECM package.
5. Hardpoints 720 hardpoints.
6. Armament The normal weapons fit-out for a Kirov class is:
7. Defenses The hull is plated, structurally reinforced, and built with secure bulkheads and compartments that give it a High Guard armor rating of 6.
  • 6 50-Ton bays, mounting Repulsors.
  • 140 triple sandcaster turrets, typically grouped into 14 batteries of 10 linked turrets.
  • The vessel is fitted with a nuclear damper unit.
  • The vessel is fitted with a meson screen generator.
8. Craft The vessel carries no dedicated subcraft.
  • There are twenty Drop Capsule tubes and their associated loading equipment
    • There is dedicated holding space containing an additional 52 Drop Capsules.
9. Fuel Treatment The Kirov class is fitted with a fuel purification plant that can refine all onboard fuel in a few hours. It is operated and maintained by the engineering crew.
10. Cost The basic cost of the vessel is MCr78,843.401
  • Architects Fee: MCr788.434
11. Construction Time 201 weeks as standard. Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional yard resources and facilities to the construction contract.
12. Comments Standard cargo capacity amounts to 64 Tons. The cargo hold can be sealed and has independent life support and environmental systems.

History & Background

Kirov class Heavy Cruisers serve with the Kostov Confederate Navy of the Kostov Confederate Republic, a member state of the Solomani Confederation. 30 examples of the Kirov class are currently in service: they are essential for local patrol and protection duties and are also occasionally called upon for Confederation service.
