Era: New Era
Zeen has both an unbreathably thin atmosphere and a lack of surface water making habitation by sophonts difficult. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Regency of Deneb in the Inar Subsector of Deneb Sector. This world contains a Regency Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. 100% of the world's population is the Major Race Droyne.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
This world is located on the Sabinar Main.
Stellar Data[edit]
System Data[edit]
No information yet available.
Mainworld Data[edit]
The mainworld is a hot, medium-sized planet one orbit inward from the habitable zone, with one moon.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Zeen is a Meso World between 8,800km and 10,400km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.6G and 0.8G. The horizon will appear about 4.4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Zeen has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. The Thin Atmosphere does not require survival gear although it may be hard on sophonts not accustomed to it.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Zeen has 25-35% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has a few small seas. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants will be recycled.
Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]
The interaction of two tectonic plates caused earthquakes and large-scale volcanic eruptions in the 1100s, resulting in the destruction of Zeen's primary starport and much of their primary city's infrastructure. Rebuilding commenced as soon as possible, complicated by political disagreement.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
No information yet available.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
This world is inhabited by Droyne. While they are not particularly outgoing, they are shrewd traders and many wide-ranging Droyne merchant starships call Zeen their home. The Kirissukyoya of Giikusu (Deneb 2316), a Minor Race native to Deneb Sector, were saved from extinction by Droyne from Zeen.
The Droyne of Zeen are often used to illustrate the constancy of Droyne culture: they have been shown to have remained at a Tech Level approximating level 4 for over 10,000 years, with neither lapse nor advancement over most of that time.
World Starport[edit]
Zeen has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
This rating is largely due to the ongoing process of rebuilding following a natural disaster; more typically, the starport is of higher quality.
World Population (P)[edit]
Zeen has a population of 3,000,000 sophonts (millions).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- The population consists of Droyne.
Droyne organise themselves into oytripin, which consist of multiple tyafelmin and dreskayin, and can produce kroylosses.
World Languages[edit]
- Oynprith
- Droyne Languages: Oynprith is a ceremonial and ritualistic language apparently universal among Droyne communities. Other languages are used in casual day-to-day affairs.
- On this world, these other languages may include Anglic and Vilani.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Zeen possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
- Prior to membership in the Third Imperium, Zeen remained at TL-4 for millennia.
World Government[edit]
The Aydih Nusalm are a sort of secret service and praetorian guard combined into one. It is their business to know the operations of the various oytripin on Zeen and to internally manage potential dissent, expeditiously and quietly if possible.
In 1105, a faction called the Eprotstisk used the recent wave of natural disasters to highlight the incompetence of the current government and petition for a change. There were some rumours that the Eprotstisk was actually a front for the Tyuisel, a more radical group, who conspired to overthrow the government completely.
