Each Flight in the Imperial Army Close Orbit and Airspace Control Command (COACC) has one Master Flight Sergeant who is the most senior Sergeant in the unit (appointed to the position of "First Sergeant"). History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The term sergeant refers to a non-commissioned officer placed above the rank of a corporal. The term master sergeant thus refers to the chief of these sergeants within the company.

Historically, Sergeants of this rank were responsible for protecting the regimental flags (colours) of the field of battle. They still perform this role in ceremonials when called to do so. When performing this role they are addressed as Colour Sergeant.
