174th Fleet

The 174th Fleet is the Numbered Imperial fleet serving the Third Imperium stationed in the Caledon Subsector of the Reaver's Deep Sector.

Description (Specifications)

The fleet consists of two imperial line squadrons anchored at the Caledon Subsector's two Naval Bases and their integral logistical support assets. This is a combat ready, frontier patrol fleet equipped to support transborder special operations in the furtherance of imperial interests. They supervise and inspect local system defense fighter and patrol squadrons. They proudly deploy a venerable captured Solomani warship from a triumphant battle in the distant past. They are also one of the proud border units to have operational Lightning class Frontier Cruisers which local nobility purchased back from private corporate ownership and had refurbished and restored to imperial fleet standards. The imperial marines aboard these vessels are heavily recruited from Gerim (world).

Border security and pirate suppression in the Reaver's Deep Sector is mission critical.

Strategy & Doctrine (Operations)

Taking full advance of superior technology and far greater strategic mobility to conduct deep strike missions as necessary to deprive would be adversaries of secure ports of call. They appear without warning and maintain a very high, well disciplined operational tempo to compensate for the lack of additional supporting squadrons of other, more typical imperial fleets.

History & Background (Dossier)

This subsector fleet is commanded by Vice Admiral Dame Helena Carstairs. She is ominously known as the "Unbroken One" in hushed, whispered tones for unknown reasons.

Tables of Organization (Organizational Structure)

This fleet consisted of two imperial line squadrons and is well supported by indigenous assets. They lack an allied ScoutRon. Some surplus scout couriers have been retrofitted and pressed into squadron surveillance, fleet intelligence and sensor picket roles. They frequently break into CruDivs, smaller cruiser divisions for extended patrols usually grouping ships by their jump range abilities. Outside of routine training exercises the troop transports usually stay closer to home in case of a mass mobilization.
