Interstellar trade depends on the reliable and consistent ability to ship freight, cargo, and passengers from a world of origin to its destination on another world. Facilitating this trade are the many Merchant Lines whose primary commercial activity is the transport of goods and sophonts between star systems. While some corporations may be so large that transport is merely one division of their total commercial operations, other companies are solely in the transportation business.
- They are also known as Shipping Corporations.
