The Xaruah are a technologically sophisticated Minor Non-Human Race with a non-humanoid appearance.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Xaruah are a cheerfully subversive race of somewhat arthropoid sophonts. They resemble the larval stage of Terran lepidopterans (butterflies and moths), though the rear sets of legs are specialized toward locomotion and they do not require the forward limbs to do so. Instead the forward limbs are specialized for manipulation. The average Xaruah is approximately 2.5 meters in length, and when reared upright is a little over a meter tall. Their coloration varies but is usually not strongly patterned.
The Xaruah are mildly omnivorous, with most of their foodstuffs being plant-based material. They have no dietary issues following a purely vegetarian diet, and thrive under the K'kree as a result.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Xaruah were in the middle of an industrial age when the K'kree discovered them during the Crusade. Evaluated, found acceptable, and awaiting further interaction with the K'kree, the Xaruah were in prime position when the K'kree lost their war with the Hivers and began to establish a firm border. The K'kree saw the potential to delegate a portion of their border defense to the agreeable Xaruah, and began the process of rapid technological development to enable the Xaruah to build and maintain a border state with a capable Navy. The arrangement, delivered to the supposedly servile Xaruah as a mandate, gave its name to the state the Xaruah would create, the Ka'ra Mandate.
Astrography[edit]
The Ka'ra Mandate occupies most of an eight subsector area and extends in small ways into five other subsectors. The Xaruah are the dominant race within the Mandate, but have fostered other races in their borders to fill various roles. The Xaruah also take advantage of their position to trade into the Two Thousand Worlds and Luretiir!girr Sector.
This race is primarily located in the following areas:
Charted Space:
- Gh!hken Sector
- Luretiir!girr Sector
- X'kug Sector
- Xaru Subsector (Presumably this is where the K'kree first encountered them)
- Azont Subsector
- Rrigak Subsector
- Ukrat Subsector
- K!kagu Subsector
- Ruupiin Sector
Homeworld[edit]
