Varida is a rich, agricultural world with improving living conditions due to a bustling agro-economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- This world is rich with high-grade living conditions, a good climate, and a non-harmful environment. Immigration registration for this world is always in high demand.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Irikusk Subsector of Far Home Sector.
- Varida is a Voluntarily Regressive World
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- This world lies on the Wolfs Tail Star Lane.

System Data[edit]
Parr-Varida System[edit]
The primary is Parr, a yellow subdwarf star. It has a luminosity of 0.268 Sols, a mass of 0.571 Sols, and a diameter of 1.157 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum inner world, (II-I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, (II-II) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (III) Varida orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (V) a trace atmosphere radworld, (VI) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (VII) a ringed large gas giant, (VIII) a large gas giant, (IX-I) a sparse icy planetoid belt, (IX-II) a trace atmosphere iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(III) Varida[edit]
(III) Varida is designated the mainworld. It orbits Parr at a mean distance of 0.68 AU (101.7 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 271 days 1 hour and a rotation period of 29 hours. The axial tilt is 22 degrees. Varida has a diameter of 9,360 km, a density of 4.77 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.63 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 0.94 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen (N2), 19% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 82% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.25m. Mean surface temperature: 17°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Prime and experiences moderate seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is active and moderate weather systems driven by the star and the oceans sweep across the globe.
Satellite[edit]
Varida retains a single natural satellite, a cratered vacuum worldlet named Ferdal:
- (IIIa) Ferdal (UWP Y200000-0, orbiting at 20 Diameters/185,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Total surface area: 275 million km², Water surface area: 226 million km², Land surface area: 49 million km².
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Parr-Varida System[edit]
The hot marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (II-II) has primitive thermophile native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that thrive in the harsh conditions. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
Varida, the mainworld, has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
World starport[edit]
Varida has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World technology level[edit]
Varida possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
World government[edit]
Varida has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
