History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Ugirunnir (Mendan 0919) is a large, cold world that attracted many Vargr settlers because of their ability to handle the world's cold weather better than most Humans. During the reign of the Second Empire of Gashikan, it became a haven for escaped Vargr, and as word got around, many Vargr looking for a place free of Human influence chose Ugirunnir. The world is formed into a patchwork of communities, each self-governed in the way that seems best to them. As a result there is little cooperation, but there is also little conflict.
Vargr corsairs are not openly welcomed, as most would rather avoid being branded corsair supporters (unlike those on Oukh Ull). Since the Julian Protectorate absorbed the Commonwealth of Mendan, there has been an increase in trade through the world that has caused some re-alignment of negative views towards Humans.
World Starport[edit]
Ugirunnir has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
- Vargr starports reflect the variety of Vargr architecture, with many disparate styles of building, each having their own unique ornamentation and gaudy colour scheme, and all competing for the attention of the onlooker. Emblems for the major shipping lines and port facilities abound.
