¶ Archduke Norris Aella Aledon of Deneb and Duchess Elane Shankarr Muudashir of Mora attended the final performance of the visiting Zhodani theater troupe Shenjiaj Izhietl as guests of Ambassador Zhonashiashav. The troupe performed Briola Dloqrkleplie, a classic of pre-spaceflight Zhodani drama. The piece is widely regarded as one of the earliest surviving examples of Zhodani romantic comedy.
¶ His Grace was quoted as saying that he greatly enjoyed the performance and hoped such cultural exchanges would continue in the future as they could only help to increase mutual understanding between the Consulate and Imperium. It believed that Ambassador Zhonashiashav has extended an invitation for the Archducal Company of Players to tour her native Chronor subsector in the near future. Ω

¶ The body of well known mountaineer and explorer Sir Enli Lubakir was recovered today from Mount Joberg. Sir Enli had been attempting a free ascent of the notoriously difficult eastern face when caught by an unexpected storm and apparently perished due to exposure. A spokesperson for his publisher, Nelson House, said that his passing was a great loss, but he had died in the mountains he loved. Baron Arthur Moadele of Prometheus issued a statement that he was saddened by Sir Enli's tragic death, but his life should serve as an inspiration for all those who love the wild places of the sector. The Baron is believed to have approached the guardians of the mountain as to the possibility of Sir Enli's remains being interred on the mountain's slopes. Ω

¶ In a nail biting final, captain Shamaglii led the Sylean Tigers to an upset win over archrivals, the Knabbib Kudbecks, to take the Paulo I Shield. Former Ankod Whipscorps' striker Sir Anthony Mgamil, calling the game for CSBN, called it the finest game of Base-Ball game he'd seen in over ten years. The match was attended by over 98,000 spectators including Prince Lucan (an avid Base-Ball fan) and his wife Princess Tabitha who took the Imperial salute in the stead of the Emperor and Empress.
¶ The Kudbecks played their usual aggressive running game and dominated possession during the first half, leading 44 for the loss of three Bases to the Tigers 33 for four at the break. However the match turned when Kudbecks' captain Zhoka was sent off for an accidental high tackle on keeper Igashii, allowing the Tigers to rally and regain the initiative. Eventually the game came down to the final whistle as striker Molotnikov toppled a Base in injury time to give the Tigers a 68 for six to 86 for eight win. Ω

¶ Representatives from Hortalez et Cie have announced that insurance premiums for all ships operating in the Antares, Empty Quarter and coreward portions of Lishun sectors will rise by 10%; immediately. Speaking for the company, Sir Iver Langfors said that the increases, though regrettable, were necessary due to a sustained rise in losses due to corsairs and piracy over the past two years. Inquiries with other major insurers confirmed that all are likely to be making similar increases in the very near future.
¶ President of the Antares Shipping Association, Lady Sharik Ghagashiisk, stated that increases were disappointing, as the rise in costs would undoubtedly be passed on to consumers. She went on to say that while the raiders and corsairs were endemic to any region bordering Vargr territory, the problem also tended to be cyclical in nature. Therefore she was hopeful that the need for increases would be short lived. Ω

¶ Famed TriDee director Kvokz Fragkh's latest work premiered last night to a packed audience of invited guests. The production is a remake of the pre-stellar Terran 2D film Spartacus, telling the story of a slave rebellion in an ancient pre-industrial Terran empire. When question about her decision to cast the well known Vargr actor Bzovok in the lead role, Fragkh replied “When you look at this story, its a perfect Vargr tale. You've got action, adventure, romance and a hero with so much charisma his followers will still die for him even after utter defeat. The role was made for a Vargr.” Critics are already hailing the work, comparing it to her previous classics Vez Kav Brazz (Seven Angry Warriors) and Marakkz Me Vanaiz Dourr (The Unforgiving Vacuum of Space). In a break from her previous works, the dialog was entirely in archaic Anglic with Ovaghoun restricted to subtitles. Ω
